It was dark. The clouds created a violent atmosphere as the crashing off rain soon appeared, thundering against the ground. The scene was cold, baron. The lonely stump of what was the tree of Feelings, a long time ago, lay there. Dead and unmoving. Everyone knew off the Dreamtale legend. And how it still was going on years later.
One wanting to eradicate the positive feelings, getting rid of kindness in his soul. The other wanting to remain balance and protect people's hopes and dreams. Nightmare and Dream.
Nightmare sat on the stump staring at the work he had created years ago. His first taste of power. It still felt as though it was yesterday that he had destroyed the blooming flowers and taken the lives off many, many villagers who had taken the joy from his life. It was only simple payback.
He soon felt a magical presence behind him. Of course it being his brother. Bearing flowers in his hand to put on the stump once more. Nightmare looked tiredly behind him.
"You're late." He said in a sing song tone. Swinging his body around to look other at Dream. "Wow... very rude." Nightmare smirked seeing the teal blue glow of one of Dream's arrows in his face.
"What are you doing here Nightmare?" Dream glared down at Nightmare, keeping a firm stance.
"Am I not allowed to recall about that faithful night?" Nightmare questioned also keeping his stance firm as he stood from his seat.
Dream pointed the arrow closer. "No. Not when your disrespecting it." Dream spat out, hissing a little under his breath.
"Disrespecting?" Nightmare brought a hand to his chest, pulling a dramatic expression as though he was offended. But he indeed felt nothing. "Dream are you disrespecting me, by accusing that I would be disrespecting our home village and tree?"
"I know you're disrespecting our home." Dream yelled, removing the arrow from his brothers face in rage. "You are once again making fun of my suffering!" Dream screamed grabbing hold of the side of his head.
However.
Nightmare wrapped him in a hug. "Tsk, tsk brother." He whispered. "Guess who let their guard down."
"Gah!" Dream exclaimed feeling that one of Nightmare's tendrils went through him. Luckily though not going through where his soul lay. He began coughing up a few streams of yellow blood.
"Your just gonna die like that?" Nightmare chuckled. "All these fights. All these battles and you're going to die right here, right now. Fine. That's fine with me." Nightmare could be heard sighing.
Dream harshly pushed the Lord of Darkness off of him. "What makes you think I'm dying now!" He wiped the blood from his mouth, and threw some of his arrows up through the ground piercing a few tendrils. "I have a duty to fulfil!"
"A duty that makes you sad." Nightmare said pulling his tendrils off of the arrows. "A duty that we both know, you'd rather forget about." He continued mocking.
Dream bit his cheek hard, trying to stop himself from letting his anger infect him. It would only make his magic weaker and Nightmare's stronger.
"No response?"
"..."
"So you know I am correct."
"Yes. And what if you are?"
"Then. You have only yourself to blame." Nightmare continued to raise a brow, seeing as though Dream had summoned his bow and again pointed the arrow. Dream shot the arrow in rage. And Nightmare caught the arrow. "Your angry." He taunted.
"Shut up!" Dream shouted, putting three arrows on the bow and shooting them all at once.
Nightmare was slightly taken back, stammering as he felt one of the arrows pierce his eye. The one blinded by hatred. "You little" He lunged other at Dream, who summoned a protective bubble around him.
