Bryan woke up in a bed this time.
The entire room was covered in red, which was definitely a little creepy. "I guess I fit right in here, huh?" He joked to himself while looking down at his sweater.
"That was a horrible joke."
Bryan looked around. "Wait, Goldie?"
"Over here."
The spirit was sitting in the corner of the room. "You were out for a while."
"Maybe that's because you left me to die at the hands of an evil clown," Bryan replied snarkily. "What happened back there?"
"I dunno." Goldie shrugged.
"Seriously!?"
"Yeah!" The ghost got up and started floating. "Don't blame me for this one. All I remember is standing in that corridor and then waking up here."
"Maybe you have a time limit or something?" Bryan suggested. Goldie shook his head. "No, that can't be right, the only person who should be able to do that is-" He cut himself off. "The only person who should be able to do what?" The other boy questioned. "Nothing," Goldie dismissed. "We should figure out where we are."
Bryan opened the bedroom door, revealing a hallway covered in yellow. "I guess this person really likes monochrome, huh, Goldie?" Goldie said nothing. He was seemingly just staring off into space. Bryan waved his hand in front of the other's face. Goldie blinked back to reality. "Are you okay there, buddy?"
"Yeah, um, I'm good. Let's go."
Bryan was unsure, but he complied.
At the end of the hallway was what looked like a living room. There was also a lady sitting in a chair, reading.
"Uh, hello?" Bryan greeted awkwardly.
The lady looked up. She had blue hair that she wore in a bun, and was also very pale. "Hello, my child! How are you feeling?" She asked.
Bryan shrugged. "Fine I guess. Mostly confused."
"Then I guess some introductions are in order," The lady laughed.
"My name is Ballora, caretaker of the ruins. I pass through them everyday to see if anyone has fallen down."
"So, someone like me?"
"Yes." Ballora said in confirmation.
"Well, my name is Bryan."
"Then welcome home, Bryan. I hope you enjoy living here." Ballora started to walk away.
Bryan did a double take. Since when was he living here? "Wait, Ballora-"
She turned around. "Hm?"
Suddenly, Bryan lost control of his speech. "Thank you."
She smiled. "Of course." The woman went into the kitchen, leaving Bryan standing alone.
Well, not totally alone.
"Whoops." Said Goldie. "My finger slipped."
