When Catra awoke in the morning, Adora was already gone, she panicked for a moment, before realizing where she was.
Bright Moon.
For a moment she sat there and thought about what exactly had happened these past few months.
Horde prime, saving Etheria... Adora...
Her ear flicked, and she snapped out of her thoughts, getting up and going into the closet to actually get dressed.
A few minutes later she came back out, glanced around and then headed off to go figure out where Adora was.
When she ran into Glimmer outside the room where they usually ate- she never could remember the exact name, probably because she didn't care- the queen yelped in surprise.
"Hey Sparkles." Catra drawled mockingly, Glimmer sighed, "Catra."
"Where's Adora?"
"She's... somewhere."
"I thought you two were best friends." she slyly commented.
"We are! She doesn't tell me everything you know, and what about you? Why didn't she tell you?"
Catra sighed, "I don't know."
"Oh." Glimmer hesitated.
"Glimmer!"
Oh great.
More princesses.
Catra didn't want any part of this, and she turned around in huffy silence and stalked off.
She didn't still didn't fit in here, with all the sparkly princesses and their weird magic.
And their absolutely infuriating obsession with "friendship".
Either way, even if she could get along with them, they still wouldn't trust her.
Adora did, and so did Scorpia and Entrapta, Glimmer tolerated her and Bow... that was still kind of confusing.
The other princesses though? The way they looked at her, like she'd either stolen something or given them a dead snake, some of them looked at her like she'd done both.
But really, all she needed to do was exist near them.
"Adora!" she called out again.
No reply, to be honest this was getting rather infuriating- "Kitty!"
There was that familiar voice and she was scooped up into a hug, "Ack! Scorpia, hello."
"Hey wildcat! How've you been?" Scorpia put her down and Catra smoothed her tail out.
"I've been fine." she gave Scorpia a forced smile. Scorpia just kept grinning at her, "Soooo what are you doing here? I thought you was in the fright- I mean... your kingdom. Have you decided on what it'll be called?"
Scorpia hesitated, "I... not really." she shrugged and her expression brightened again, "But I'm here for the princess meeting. We're trying to send supplies to other kingdoms, all of us, to help rebuild and restore them."
Catra couldn't help feel slightly disappointed at not being invited, but wait... if there's a meeting and Glimmer didn't know where Adora was-
Who was lying, who was telling the truth?
"I- I need to go, sorry Scorpia, I'll find you later!"
Before Scorpia could reply she'd already run off.
She walked down the halls and peeked through the windows and doors, until she finally found who she was looking for.
Catra found Adora in the gardens, since Shadow Weaver had... gone. The gardens' state had degraded back to its former appearance before she'd arrived.
Adora was sitting on the rim and staring at her reflection in the fountain, it took a moment for her to realize Catra was there.
"Hey Adora." Catra sat down next to her, and then Catra almost fell into the fountain water as Adora surprised her by leaping up and saying, "Catra! What are you doing here?"
"Uhhhh Adora? I live here."
"What? Oh... Oh wait-" Adora blinked, "Hey Catra."
Oddly enough, a light tint of blush rose up on Catra's cheeks, she looked away and fought it back before looking at Adora again.
"You okay?"
"I am."
Adora stood up, Catra didn't.
"Are you... coming?"
"No."
"Why?"
"I wasn't invited. Have fun, Adora." Catra called as she laid down on her back and waved.
"O-okay." Adora turned and walked away.
"Have fun Adora." Catra repeated quietly as the door to the gardens closed.
