I looked at the basket for about another minute before looking inside. The most cutest and heartbreaking sight welcomed me. Inside was a little baby wrapped in a pink blanket. On top of the child's heart was a note.
Dear Person,
Im so sorry. This child you are holding right now is Acacia. We weren't able to keep her because very soon we won't even be alive anymore. We knew you were the perfect choice to pick for our daughter because you were also abandoned as a baby. Just to let you know we love Cia very much. Your parents had the same problem as us and died after you were given to a random person. We didn't want that life for Cia so we found you instead. We are truly sorry for all that the Smiths' have done to you. Don't worry dear, they will pay for what they have done. Watch the news tonight and you will see. Please take care of Cia for us.
Love, Andersons.
I stared at Acacia with eyes that held so much sadness and love. I felt a connection with her even before I read the note. I understand now why they must have done this, and my parents too. I kissed Acacia on the head and brought her inside. I vowed to do anything and everything I can for her. I loved her already.
I set my keys on the kitchen counter and carried Cia into my room. Time to decorate I guess. I lived in a simple house that I bought myself with my own money. Now I can paint the room next to mine all for Acacia. Acacia Summers.
