CHAPTER 04;
POTENTIAL FRENEMIES

                                                  SHE BARELY SURVIVED her first Trigonometry period with Angela, she was lucky enough to have learned the aforementioned subject in Vancouver, the lesson not so hard to follow as she had done the work before. Though one thing was for sure as she exited the room and met Bella halfway to their Biology classroom, she distasted the man she called her teacher.

Bella shared the mutual feeling, both girls having to stand in front of the classroom and introduce themselves in front of all the students. Which, by the way, wasn't an actual rule considering she hadn't done the same in any other class she had been to. Whilst Bella would be ignored in her own Trig. Class, she was sure he would give her hell for the rest of the semester because not only had she glared at him, but Tamara grabbed her slip from his hand and found herself her seat beside Angela, without him assigning her there.

She was going to regret it later, but for now, she was glad.

As the duo made their way to the last class of the day, they were joined by two overly eager boys, namely Eric and Mike. They made light conversation, more so Eric stuttering an attempt to either ask Bella out judging by the nervous scratching-behind-the-head antic he couldn't stop performing the minute they joined them. She would give him props for trying but he had failed miserably the minute Mike interrupted them.

Tamara watched as an almost puppy-like saddened expression made its way on his face and it was clear that his friend Mike hadn't noticed. She shouldn't have cared so much, but he just looked so upset that she couldn't help but think that it could benefit her too. So, she sighed and began to rub her shoulder feigning discomfort, and as she predicted, Eric's gaze shot to her.

"Hey Tamara, you okay?"

"Yeah, my shoulder's killing me. You know, carrying my bag over one shoulder and all."

And like she had expected, Eric's mood changed just as quick, seemingly forgotten that Bella had ignored him. "I can carry it for you." He said almost too excitingly and he hadn't even given her a chance to respond as he took it from her as gently as possible.

"Thanks, Eric."

He nodded as he headed into the classroom ahead of them with Mike by his side and before she entered, she caught a knowing look on Bella's face. "What?"

"My shoulder's killing me?"

She rolled her eyes. "Boys always want the attention of the new girl and besides, you basically blew him off and he's carrying my bag. Its a win-win."

"How is that a win-win?

Tamara merely gave her a sly smirk and walked into the classroom without saying another word.

Almost immediately, her presence in the classroom was made aware of by both Eric and Mike as they pointed to her. The middle-aged man gave her a wide smile as she handed him her pink slip to sign. His glasses fell to his nose as he said, "Glad to have another eager scientist join us." She only responded with pursed lips, the man not noticing her discomfort. She wasn't planning on telling him that the one subject she didn't particularly enjoy and happened not to be the best at, was Biology. That wasn't the first impression she wanted to make on the seemingly nice man. She merely gave him a grateful smile as he handed her the slip and directed her to the empty seat at the back of the room.

She paused slightly, caught off guard as she stared at her lab partner for the rest of the semester, Edward Cullen. She wasn't sure how she felt about him yet, or his family for that matter. Emmett seemed nice but after everything she had heard, even if it was just gossip, she couldn't help but overthink it. They all seemed to be very secluded from everyone and that was only a distant observation.
