(Y/N) POV
You lie in bed, awake.
"How embarrassing..." Your face creeps red but you try to chuckle it off. Your heart is still thumping faster than you'd like it to be. As you try to calm down enough to rest, you scold yourself.

"Why are you so flustered? He's just another camper. Sure he's cute, but he's not that nice... UHG, (y/n), just go to bed already!"

As you squeeze your eyes shut, forcing yourself to go to sleep, all that envelops your mind is Max. His fluffy hair, his piercing teal eyes, and his flirty smirk. The blue of his hoodie soaks your mind as you drift...

Mellow chatter and the occasional crash pull you slowly from slumber. You debate on whether or not to open your eyes and expose them to the bright sunlight seeping through the tent walls. You make the mistake of doing so and immediately regret it. Your arms swing your blanket over your face, attempting to shield yourself from the morning. After a couple of minutes you hear the cheery voice of David.
"Uhg... 7 am. Now I HAVE to get up."

You reluctantly sit up and slump out of your warm bed. Since it's only June, mornings are still a bit chilly. You rub your eyes and peel them open once more. Grabbing a sweatshirt and slipping on your boots, you stumble out of your tent. As you hike to the mess hall for breakfast, you scan the scenery for Max. You don't see him. You're not sure if your relieved or disappointed. You think it's a little mixture of both. You finally arive at the mess hall and push the doors open, stepping inside. Again, you scan for Max... nothing.

A slight bit of nervousness pokes at your stomach.
"Who am I going to sit by now?"
Max is the only person you really know. If you consider one conversation "knowing someone".

You step in line for breakfast and receive a rather questionable portion of what looks like eggs and bacon. At least you hope it's bacon. You walk down the rows of tables and decide to sit by the boy in stripes you saw yesterday.

"Mind if I sit here?" You ask.
"Not at all!" His golden eyes smile back at you.
You sit and introduce yourself. He tells you that his name is Preston.

"I love your costume," you say, "it really caught my eye."
"Oh this old thing?" He blushes. "It's not in the best of conditions but I designed it myself!"

The two of you discuss the basics of getting to know one another. You find out he's an actor and his favorite color is vermillion. Breakfast is going well until Max walks into the mess hall. He obviously slept in. After grabbing his food he plops down next to a teal-haired girl and a boy with a yellow turtleneck. He looks at the food on his plate and then looks up. You make eye contact.

Your first instinct tells you to look away but he holds your gaze. Max then gives you a smirk that activates you heart again. You look down, trying to hide a smile. Pink prickles at your cheeks and your stomach holds butterflies.

Preston taps your shoulder. You look up to meet his cheerful gaze.
"I've never seen that before! Max obviously likes you and you obviously like him too! Ooh, tell me I'm right!"

"Keep your voice down!" You whisper yell at him. "It's too early to tell. I've only known him for a day. But... he is charming... in his own way I guess."

Preston's smile only widens. "This is the drama I live for!"

You laugh as you dump your tray. You and Preston walk outside and start the daily activity.
