'It has been a quiet few months in Riverdale. Spring slid into summer, and some semblance of normal life resumed. The terrors of the Farm weren't forgotten, but they had started to fade. Gryphons and Gargoyles was already becoming the stuff of suburban legend. Indeed, the big topic of conversation around town was July 4th.
After some debate, it was decided that there would be an Independence Day parade down Main Street, Riverdale's first in three years.

But there would be no fireworks display over Sweetwater River. The Blossoms used to sponsor them, but, without their support, the town couldn't afford them. As i said, things have actually been pretty quiet lately. Enough that I'd actually gotten some real writing done.'

"I actually really like this." Mila smiled, "This makes me want to actually read."

"Really?" Jughead grinned. Mila nodding. "You think it's worth submitting to the contest?"

"No," Mila said shaking her head. Jughead's eyes widening, "I think it's gonna win." She grinned, Jughead sighing in relief.

"You scared the hell out of me." Jughead chuckled, "But i love you." He said, leaning down and kissing her.

He pulled away for a second, Mila smiling up at him, "I love you more."

"Not possible." He laughed, moving them to lay down next to each other on the bed. They laid in silence for a second before he propped up on his elbow, slightly leaning over her. "No matter what, I love you." He whispered.

"Always and Forever." She whispered. Jughead nodding, leaning down to kiss her again, pulling her closer.

Mila sighed, pulling her shorts up slightly as she painted a float for the Main Street parade. Mila slightly looked back, smiling, seeing Jughead working hard. "Hey, googly eyes, remember, we're supposed to be painting." Veronica chuckled. The brunette playfully rolled her eyes, dipping her brush into the blue paint again.
Mila noticed the eyes Veronica gave Archie and chuckled.

"Hey, Googly eyes, remember we're supposed to be painting." She mocked, Veronica, laughing. The five stopped when they heard an engine rumble, all five looking up to see Cheryl driving over and stepping out of her car.

"Well, well, well. Stop the presses. The Riverdale rag has finally reported a story accurately." Cheryl snapped, crossing her arms and glaring at the five. "Not only is there going to be some hideous janky parade sneaking its way through town, but you five are also the architects of this outrage."

"What's your problem, Cheryl?" Veronica groaned.

"My problem, Veronica, is that the 4th of July is a day of tragedy for Riverdale, not celebration." Mila took a deep breath, looking away. Yes, she missed Jason, she missed Jason every day. But it's been three years. "Or have you forgotten what happened to my poor brother Jason? Out of everyone, I'd thought you'd have a little more respect for Jj."  Cheryl glared, staring at Mila.

"Cheryl, I miss Jason, a lot, trust me. But Riverdale hasn't held a parade out of respect for Jason in three years." She stated softly.

"I mean... you don't have to come," Jughead suggested.

"Oh, I'll be there," Cheryl smirked. "Insufferable Smurf. Front and center, with a sign of protest in one hand, and a horn of compressed air to silence any revelry in the other." Cheryl spun on her heel, getting into her car and driving away.

"Great." Veronica huffed.

"Anyone hungry for breakfast?"
