Frank looked into the unimpressed eyes of his enemy, Nea Karlsson. “Please...don’t blow my cover, I’m just curious is all.” He said slowly, fighting the urge of becoming a stuttering, flustered mess. She remained unfazed. “If you promise not to yell..I’ll take my hand away, please..” He begged her, she just rolled her eyes and nodded slightly.

Frank dropped his hand, to show her make a face. “God, you smell like you shower in ax body spray.” She whispered, holding her nose. “Oh come on it's not that ba-”, “Oh my god it's in my mouth.” She stuck her tongue out, doing her best to make sure her taste buds weren’t violated by the unpleasant taste.

“You know, if you didn't open your mouth as much, nothing would be in your mouth,” Frank grumbled. “My mouth is not open!” She growled, earning a side-glance from Frank, his brow raised. “Uh-huh, so how’s your relationship with Ghostie? Is he as big as you-”, “Oh-KAY!” She hissed, shoving him against the tree, “Let’s not forget you’re under my mercy whether you get found out or not.” She spat, causing Frank to wipe his face with his sleeve.

“Yeah, yeah whatever,” Frank grumbled, making Nea move back, her arms crossed over her body. Frank just looked at her, she seemed uncomfortable like that. Frank thought, maybe, she enjoyed being in control. Being able to run people, to have people beg her for reassurance they won’t be attacked. Frank kind of felt sympathy for her in a way, “Hey jackass, stop staring, will you? God, you're a nuisance.” Nevermind, she’s a bitch. “Yeah, said the person who is dating the perv with the camera. Give ‘flashing’ a fancy purpose, doesn’t it.”

“You want your cover blown, don’t you?”

“I don’t work well with people who use empty threats to keep a conversation going.”

Nea opened her mouth before slowly closing it. Frank smirked, however, he was sweating bullets of the fear of getting found out. He made the mental note to clean his mask when he got back.

“What do you want Frank?” Nea asked, noticeably irritated. Frank opened his mouth, a small noise escaped but he stopped. What did he really want? Did he want to join their group? Or did he want to talk to the two people his heart tugged at? Or did he- “Hey, we don’t have all day. Stop wasting my time.” She groaned, holding her head. “I’m thinking.” He snapped, before sighing.

“I don’t know. I miss being a teenager, miss being around people.”, “Don’t you have your group?”, “That’s different. I've known them forever and even then, I feel like I’m missing something. Something they don’t have. Something you guys...or two of you...have.” Frank sighed, leaning his head back.

“Alright, so you want to join our group huh? Alright, join us after trials tomorrow.” Nea told him. He instantly jerked his head up, leaning more on his hands when he looked at her. However, before he could thank her profusely, he noticed the shit-eating grin that was plastered on her face.

“What’s...the catch?” Frank asked slowly, making Nea smirk, let out a mischievous giggle. “Give me hatch.”, “No way! You’re fucking insane.” Frank growled, throwing his hands up, “The Entity will kill me.”

“And you think I won’t be? Hell, half of the survivors hate my guts and think I’m more of a monster than a killer-”,  “They’re not the only ones.” , “and the other half thinks I- what did you say?” Nea glared, making Frank shrugged.

“I...just." Frank thought about it, knowing this could be his only way to talk to them, so he sighed. "Okay, but only when I get you in my lobby and only you.” Frank said, holding his hands out. Nea smiled, shaking his hand.

“Deal.”

“Guys, do you think Frank is up to something?” Julie asked, turning towards the people she has always trusted. “Frank is Frank, the more you think about him, the more obsessed you become of him,” Joey told her, doing tricks with his prized possession, his karambit.

“I’m sure Frank just needs to breathe. He has a lot to deal with on his plate with coming here.” Susie told her, putting her pointer fingers together. She was always meek and only shared what she thought when she was in a safe place and even then, she always had trouble talking.

“Well he ‘breaths’ a lot!” Julie said in frustration, making air quotations, “He’s always running off doing stuff by himself! He would always have us involved with the stuff he thinks of. I mean, what’s so wrong with having m- us tag along??” She asked, her hands on her hips as she walked back and forth.

Joey looked up before looking down, shaking his head, “Obsessed.”

“I am not obsessed!” Julie growled, turning her back on him. “You are. Why do you care so much? Do you like him or something?” Joey asked, extremely done with her rant as he continued to flipped his karambit to give him something interesting to do.

“I do not!” Julie let out an exasperated cry, turning to him. Her cheeks were red, though Joey couldn’t detect if she was just worked up or if the question brought out hidden feelings. Susie looked extremely uncomfortable with her body being compact in a small ball, her eyes switch back and forth to who was talking when Joey glanced over at her. Joey felt horrible for letting this continue for this long and sighed. “Julie, please understand that Fra-”

The door opened, revealing the mentioned person coming through the door. He took his mask off and hung it up. No one dared to speak or even breathe as Frank took his jacket off and glanced around the room. He blinked, his eyes scanning the room in confusion.

“Did I miss something?” He asked, making Julie laugh. It went on for seconds while her voice rose in volume, the pitch getting louder and vulgarer. Frank cringed and slowly went upstairs, feeling extremely uncomfortable. “Ohh-kay then, I’m going to turn in early. See you guys in the morning.”

“G-Goodnight Frank,” Susie told him with a small smile while Joey just waved. Once his door was closed, Joey glared at her, shaking his head. “What the hell is wrong with you? You want the guy to include you in things but you’re acting childish.” He told her before he sighed, his eyes softened, “I don’t know what’s gotten you into this mood you’re in, but you should let it go. You’ll only drive him away.” Joey told her, getting up and patting her shoulder. “I’m turning in, you should as well.”

With that, Joey walked up to his room and closed the door. Julie seemed as if she was holding back tears, sitting next to Susie as she hung her head. Susie gently touched her shoulder, “Hey, cheer up Julie. It’s okay. I-I mean it may not be okay now but i-it will be if you want it. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day b-because some-”, “Susie.” Julie said in a demanding, firm voice causing her to instantly be quiet.

Julie remembered when they killed that man, when she killed him. Frank had saved her, the way he stabbed the man when he touched her made her chest burn. When he handed her the knife, she felt as if this was a way of him telling her that she was safe and she will always get revenge on those who hurt her with him by her side. When she killed the worker, she walked over to Frank, behind her mask she was smiling. Smiling that she was cared for, her finger gently drawing on the mask how she felt. That smile was never cleaned off the mask, making her happy every time she saw him wear it.

Tears rolled down her cheek, dropped down on the floor. She felt like she was betrayed by what she knew, what she thought was shared. She thought he…loved her
