AS soon as saera went back into class, she heaved a huge sigh of relief, returning back to her chair. she looked around and saw youngjae mouthing, " what's wrong? ". she shook her head, plastering a huge smile on her face. she mouthed back, " nothing! ".
jacob and siyeon were a year older than youngjae and saera— whereas kyla was a year younger. despite the age gap, they had lunch together on days when their classes had free period together.
youngjae nodded, shrugging off any suspicions. saera was calm at first. she put her head down on the table. she breathed in and out. after all, it could've just been a coincidence, right? the boy could've just been somehow addicted to baby by justin bieber, right? right? she smiled to herself and nodded, " yeah, that's totally it! " she thought.
she looked up, still smiling, until she saw him— the same boy and his friend, hyunjae, was it? her jaw dropped. how could she have not noticed him before if they were from the same class? she watched as the boy sat down in his place. he sighed, rubbing his eyes. hyunjae whispered something into his ear before returning back to his seat. from his reaction, saera had assumed that hyunjae had said something to make the other ticked off.
the girl tried her very best to keep her mind off of the boy, but unfortunately, she couldn't. saera kept staring at him in class. she kept trying to remember his name, surely she knew? she kept thinking about what had just happened during free period, cringing at the possibility of her having a soulmate. it got so bad that she had accidentally groaned loudly in the middle of mrs ho's lecture.
" jo saera? mind to explain why you had a sudden outburst? " mrs ho questioned the girl, who had a rather distressed look on her face. saera snapped out of her thoughts at the mention of her name. she looked up to see mrs ho's glare and the eyes of all 39 of her classmates— including his. she shook her head, flushing in embarrassment at her sudden behaviour. " ah... my bad. i'm sorry."
the others laughed. saera caught a glance of youngjae mouthing 'idiot'. she smiled sheepishly before looking back at him— the boy. he had his eyes glued to the book in front of him, and he was frowning at the board, as if to show that he wanted the lesson to continue and didn't quite enjoy it getting interrupted.
saera scratched the back of her head, biting her lip. you're not the loud type, i'm assuming, she thought, before sinking back into her chair.
