NIA APPROACHED the information area, pressing the notebook to her chest and feeling somewhat embarrassed, she didn't know who had arrived but the fact that she was caught in a place where she shouldn't be made her feel bad. just like he said jj she was a good girl.

"yes, hi.. hello, i'm here." nia murmured, approaching the man. "sorry i was... going through some files." nia was very bad at lying, especially since where she came from there was not a single file, just the cells.

"i don't care, girl. where the asshole?" the man murmured with his aggresive gaze in the girl.

the brunette girl was intimidated by the violent way in which he spoke, she didn't recognize his face so she just moved slowly around the table and returned to her chair, only to have something that kept the distance between the two. "i... uh... who is the asshole?"

          "jj." the man muttered reluctantly.

before nia could say anything else, her mother entered the police station. when the woman saw rude man, she shook her head. "you can't take him yet, luke." adina peterkin said. "i have to talk to him about what happened."

"fuck." the man seemed to be having a bad day. he retraced his steps and sat down in one of the waiting chairs. "let me know when you're done."

nia only frowned, any parent should know that a police officer could not speak to a minor without the consent of their parents or like without his parents there. but at the time it seemed that luke maybank either didn't care that the police didn't follow the law with his son or that he hadn't bothered to know what his son's rights were.

"what are you still doing here?" her mother finally asked her.

nia's face was screaming that she had done something wrong, her puppy face and frightened eyes said it and her mother knew it. having a cop as a mom sucks, she though."i thought about waiting for you to go eat together." the brunette girl lied.

"don't lie to me, nia." her mother whispered to her. she always managed to find out the truth and nia hated it, maybe that's why she didn't have a social life, so her mother couldn't find out.

          "that's the truth, mom."

her mother snorted and shook her head. "we'll talk about this later, but now leave. i don't want to see you hanging around here." adina couldn't help lowering her voice when she said that last sentence and looking over her shoulder at luke maybank who was with his eyes closed leaning on one of the waiting chairs.

"but i wasn't doing anything wrong." that was nia's attempt to defend herself.

"nia." her mother only had to say her name in a serious tone to let her know that if she replicated her again she would be in trouble.
