-Hey man, thank you for inviting me.
-No problem! -Ansel hugged Timothée for a few seconds.- You already know Violetta.
Timothée hugged Ansel's girlfriend for a few seconds:
-This is my friend y/n.
The girl waved and smiled:
-Hi.
-Hi, I'm Timothée.
-I'm y/n, nice to meet you.
Ansel smiled:
-We should sit down.
Ansel invited Timothée to a Knicks game and Violetta also invited y/n, one of her best friends. The couple was on a mission to find y/n a boyfriend and Timothée a girlfriend, tired of hearing both of them complain about how single they were. They arrived to their seats, they were seeing the game courtside so they had the best view. Violetta sat next to Ansel on his left side and Timothée sat on his right side, leaving y/n to sit next to Timothée.
She was nervous. She knew who he was and she knew what her friend was trying to do so she sat down and looked at the floor. Timothée and Ansel engaged on a conversation and Violetta nudged her boyfriend so he would tell his friend to make a move:
-Hey, you should talk to y/n, she's cool.
-You know I'm not good at talking with girls.
-Just, talk to her. She's nice.
Timothée turned around and looked at y/n who was looking at the floor:
-So... Are you a fan of the Knicks?
Timothée mentally punched himself. What a stupid question to ask, she was in the game so she should like them:
-Yeah, my dad used to take me to all their games when I was little. What about you?
-They're good. I'm just not a big fan of sports really, I used to play soccer in high school.
-Were you good?
-Not really but I tried.
y/n laughed and smiled, her nerves going away for a second:
-By the way, congratulations of your Golden Globe nomination.
-Oh, thank you.
-Call Me By Your Name was so good. My favourite movie of 2017 without any doubt but don't tell Ansel because I told him Baby Driver was my fave.
Timothée smiled, drinking from his beer:
-Thank you. Did you buy a drink?
-No, I was so excited I forgot.
-I'll go a get you one, if you'd like. Beer?
-Yes, thank you.
Timothée stood up and went up the stairs to go to the stand. Violetta sat in the seat and looked at her:
-He's nice, right?
-I've only talked to him for the total amount of two minutes.
-I'm not saying anything! But I know he's your type.
-So you admit you and lover boy Ansel have been trying to set me up with different people?
-Okay, I'm sorry we did that but I think you'll like Timothée. He's your type and he's cute.
-He is cute.
Tiimothée bought the beer and went back to his seat, Violetta quickly changing seats. y/n smiled and thanked him:
-I'll pay you after the game.
-I invite you, don't worry. So, what do you do?
-I'm a dancer. I work in the same place as Violetta.
-That's so cool.
-Not as cool as being an actor.
Timothée and y/n kept their conversation until the game started. They couldn't hear anything the other was saying and Timothée didn't want to be whispering in her ear because he didn't know if she would be comfortable with that but gosh, he wanted to speak to her.
Ansel was right, she was so cool. y/n, apart from being a dancer, she worked as a ballet teacher for kids and Timothée couldn't help but think she was adorable when she started talking about the little kids she taught.
She thought the same about him. When he talked about his work, he seemed passionate and so hard-working, which she liked. She wanted to keep talking to him so she softly touched his shoulder with one of her fingers:
-Yeah?
-Do you mind if I... -she point to his ear.- If you don't want to it's okay.
-No, no! I want to.
They came closer and kept talking about different things, like plans for the future, favourite hobbies and even talked photography and video games.
Timothée and y/n weren't paying attention to the game anymore. They have never felt this connection with anyone and their friends were sensing that when they were looking at them.
They laughed and talked like they knew each other since childhood and before they could even notice, the game was finished. The group left the stadium after taking some pictures and being stopped by some fans of Ansel and Timothée.
Ansel and Violetta were walking side by side and left Timothée and y/n walk together. Timothée didn't want this night to end and he knew his nerves would get the best of him and not ask for her number:
-Hey, thank you again for the beer. I had a great night.
Timothée smiled, hands on his pockets.
-I had a lot of fun as well.
y/n looked at him for a few seconds but her smiled faded when she saw that he wasn't going to ask for her number:
-I need to say goodbye to Violetta. It was nice meeting you, Timothée.
She waved and approached her friend, hugging her:
-I'll see you soon.
-Hey, what's wrong?
-Nothing, I guess he didn't have as much fun as I did.
-He didn't ask your number?
y/n shook her head. She was familiar with rejection so she would get over it:
-Listen, I may not know Timothée as much as Ansel does but that boy likes you. He was blushing the whole night! Maybe he's shy. Ask him.
-I don't know. I don't want him to be uncomfortable.
-He won't be, I promise. And if he doesn't want to give you his number, it's his loss.
y/n looked at the boy who was talking to Ansel and approached them:
-Hey, I know this may sound weird and that we don't know each other that much b-
-Can I have your number?
y/n smiled, looking at him. She nodded, Timothée taking his phone out of his pockets. She gave him her number and he texted her so she would have his.
Ansel and Violetta looked at them and smiled:
-We are the best matchmakers.
