Gives you hell

It was just another day in Mystic Falls and Estella was sitting in library, doing some research on the town’s history. The stories she had heard about the town’s supernatural side were only faint and did not give a clear image on the vampires that had lived here. The name Salvatore popped up as well as Pierce. Gilbert was another name she had not come across yet during her stay in Mystic Falls and she wondered if their family line had ended already. It would be weird considering it would be the only founding family to not have any descendants walking around nowadays. After spending two days in this godforsaken town, as Damon had called it, she had learned the dynamics of the town.

“That’s an interesting book you’re reading there”, a male voice said. Estella looked up slowly; a glare secured on her face, and looked up at the dark skinned man. “Mind if I take a seat?”, he said pointing at the chair opposite her.

“Sure”, she answered with an obvious hint of irritation. She did not want any company and only wished to continue reading her book, let alone have a conversation with a mental stranger.

The man watched her for a while as she focused on reading her book, but the combination of his utter silence and lasting stare made it hard for her to take in any word she read. Annoyed she looked up again and eyed the man closely.

“I’m sorry, but do I know you?” Yes, she was most definitely irritated.

“Actually you do”, the man smiled leaning forward on the table. “Let me refresh your memory… Watch out prick”, the man suddenly insulted her. She recognized that line from somewhere put could not quite put her finger on it. Where did she hear it again?

“Oh that’s right”, she said tilting her head to the side and added a sickening sweet smile. “You almost ran me over with your car.” Her voice sounded more girly than normal, like it usually did when she mocked someone.

“Exactly. I do apologize for that.” A small smile crossed the man’s face as he looked down at the table for a slight second. “Let me introduce myself. Connor Jordan”, he said extending his hand over the table. Estella looked at his rough hand covered in a fingerless leather glove. She noticed he didn’t wear one on his other hand and decided not to trust him.

“None of your business”, she said and extended her left hand. “Left handed”, she smiled sweetly and watched how Connor reluctantly shook her hand with his own left hand. She squeezed lightly before letting go and smirked contently.

“What’s up with the glove?”, she asked and gestured with her head.

“Hurt myself. Nasty cut”, Connor answered shortly and pretended his hand ached. He was faking and Estella knew. If he had been any normal person he would’ve walked away already. She hadn’t been nice to him for a second and yet he was still sitting in a chair opposite her and smiled like a freaking pedophile.

“Don’t you have other business to attend?”, Estella asked, raising an eyebrow. Connor nodded his head and got up from his chair.

“You’re right. It was nice meeting you”, he said and shot her a vicious smile over her shoulder as he disappeared between the bookshelves. Estella was relieved that he was gone, but was left behind with a gnawing feeling in her stomach. Who was that guy and what exactly did he want from her?

The history of mystic falls turned out to be more colorful than Estella had expected it to be. Hybrids, did they even exist? One of the chapters told about Klaus, a vicious mass murdering vampire that sought the moonstone and killed everyone and everything on his path. Estella admitted that it even sent some shivers down her spine. She had heard stories about Klaus and how he was feared by every vampire or werewolf, but had only considered them myths.
