I knew you were trouble
As usual Estella decided to process her thoughts with alcohol, her one and only friend aside from Elena. It was not that she felt depressed again, she just needed something to clear her mind from the many thoughts, both happy and unhappy, going through her mind.
Jeremy turned out to be quite the nice guy too; he had been suspicious of Estella at first but apparently doing the dishes together created a bond. Estella could not help but splash him with water, and Jeremy waged a war against her. By the time Elena had returned from Stefan’s home, the entire kitchen was soaked as were Estella and Jeremy. Elena had been mad at first, but soon came around and even joined. It was those moments Estella treasured the most; she felt fortunate to have them.
Estella played pool for a while, when a familiar smell caught her attention. She looked up from the table and followed how Klaus made his way to the bar. His expression was blank and he casually ordered a drink while leaning against the bar. Estella was somehow intrigued by his casual attitude as if he was not the biggest and baddest hybrid on earth. He actually looked like a normal guy.
Klaus turned his head in curiosity and scanned the Mystic Grill, his eyes glancing from one person to another. When his eyes darted past the pool table, he caught something very interesting to look at. It was the vampire that had tried to attack him at Tyler’s house. She had been staring at him intensely before his eyes met hers for a slight second. She turned her gaze away from him, her lips in a tight line and her hands tightly clasped around the cue stick. If she was not careful, she could break it easily.
Estella watched how Klaus grabbed his drink and put on a smirk as he approached her. She did not know what to do or how to feel; she hated him, yet she could not be mad at him. She was simply frustrated and did not appreciate his company at the moment.
“Hello love”, Klaus greeted her with a toothless smile. His dimples showed and Estella could not help but stare at them for a moment, before she turned her back to him. He almost looked…cute. Was that even possible for somebody as terrifying as Klaus? “How are you feeling today? After all the…tensions”, Klaus continued and leaned closer to her ear while saying the last word.
Estella felt shivers run down her spine as his warm breath tickled her ear pleasantly. It wasn’t right. Her shocked expression soon changed into an angry one. She turned around rapidly and glared at Klaus.
“How can I still hate you after you saved my life?”, she hissed at him though gritted teeth. Klaus raised his eyebrows at her.
“How about we talk about why you hate me first, shall we?”, Klaus said in a low voice. She glared at him but decided to talk.
“You’re the reason I’ve never met my mother. You’re the reasons she has been fleeing her entire life. I have...or had every reason to hate you”, Estella hissed again, leaning slightly forward in a threatening way.
Klaus chuckled. “I see…well then, love”, he started. “If you want I’ll walk outside with you and you can have another shot. Try not getting yourself nearly killed this time”, Klaus finished in a humoristic tone. He gestured at the door with both of his hands to emphasize his point and stared at Estella with an amused look. She growled and dropped the cue stick.
“Unbelievable”, she muttered and she pushed past him, walking to the door.
“Where are you going sweetheart?”, Klaus called after her with an amused tone. He loved playing with people, especially ones that hated him, which they did most of the time. He too a sip of his drink and watched how her long curled locks disappeared last through the door.
Estella entered her home, raging and slamming against walls. She was angry, not only because of Klaus but the fact that she had no longer a reason to hurt him. He had gotten under her skin already and there was nothing she could do about it, except letting it go.
“Ella?”, Elena’s worried voice sounded from the couch. Estella turned her head and had trouble dropping the glare she had held on her face the entire way home. “Is everything alright?” Elena shot Estella a compassionate look and patted on the couch between her and Caroline. Of course ditsy blond had to visit when she was in a bad mood, great.
Estella sat down on the chair opposite Blondie and Elena and sighed. “I just ran into Klaus”, Estella admitted.
“Wait, what?”, Caroline asked in disbelief. Her mouth was slightly agape as she gawked at Estella. “What did he do?”
“Nothing. He did nothing, that’s the problem. I hate him so much for what he’s done, but I can’t bring myself to forgive and forget.”
“But why would you want to forgive Klaus if you hate him?”, Elena asked confused and glanced at Caroline before focusing on Estella’s answer. Estella stayed silent before answering.
“I-…he saved my life”, Estella admitted and casted her eyes down. She did not want to see Elena or Caroline’s face at the moment. Their gasps were obvious enough.
“When? How? I mean…”, Elena stuttered.
“It doesn’t matter”, Estella said and looked at Caroline, who seemingly tried to lighten up the atmosphere. A smile crept upon her face as she prepared a little motivational speech.
“Let’s stop talking about stupid Klaus and his stupid actions. God,MysticFallswas a lot easier to live in when bitchy Katherine was still trying to win over Stefan’s heart”, Caroline smiled playfully, not realizing what she’d just said.
Estella growled. “What did you just say?”, she sneered at the dumb blonde. Caroline did not realize what she had gotten herself into. Estella had already been mad from her encounter with Klaus, but this…was the last drop.
“Klaus is stupid?”, Caroline answered and shrugged.
“The other thing”, Estella urged, licking his lips.. Elena was already shaking her head no, but was too late; Caroline had already started answering.
“Katherine’s a bitch.” Within a second Estella had gotten up from the couch and had tackled Caroline with her vampire speed. Both girls were rolling on the floor and pulling each others hair. Estella bared her fangs at Caroline and hissed, threatening to bite her.
Elena was in shock. Estella was far too strong for Caroline to beat and could rip her head off within a second. The first thing that popped to Elena’s mind was to call Damon. He was the only person who might be able to tear the girls apart.
Estella threw Caroline against the wall and attacked her neck, but Caroline pushed Estella off and the brunette landed on the floor. She growled and got up on her feet again, ready for another assault. Just as she was about to jump at Caroline a strong hand pushed her back onto the floor the moment it touched her chest.
“Damon!”, Elena yelled in relief.
Damon glanced at her and winked before focusing on Estella again. Though Caroline had already turned back to her human form, Estella was still ready to attack; her fans were still out and the veins around her eyes were thick and black.
“Stop”, Damon said holding his index finger up. Estella stood up and neared him with a growl but Damon didn’t budge and stared at her thoroughly. “Change back.”
As Estella stepped nearer to Damon her face slowly started to change back into human form again. Her eyes were no longer black, but had returned to brown again, showing nothing more but guilt. Estella did not want to admit to her feelings and gritted her teeth while leaving the living room. She ran upstairs using her vampire speed and locked herself up in her room, thinking about everything she had ever been through. Had she been a bad person?
