The next day was relatively peaceful.
Everyone went about their daily business, although Copper and Ninja were caught up in a Nightfall Strike when Ghaul attacked, which, let's be honest, is the WORST time to lose the one thing keeping you alive when fighting a giant Hive Worm God named Xol.
Anyways. It started like anything would. Zavala and Ikora were up in the watchtower, Ikora senses something and checked the security satellites. "There's...nothing there?" She muttered. Zavala gave her a look. "No, I mean there's nothing there, at all! There are no satellites."
Zavala's eyes went wide as he turned to the window, looking out over a sea of Cabal shops emerging from the red clouds around the Tower.
That's all one of the survivors was able to tell me before he passed out in the surveillance tower. I found him a few minutes ago and pulled him to safety, and he told me the story I just told you. I had been shooting Cabal with the Bartender's Revolver for a while now as he told this story, and in return, I gave him a Cayde Concoction so he could get back into the fight.
Ninja and Copper met up with me a few hours later to discuss what happened. Somehow, they managed to kill Xol with nothing but ammo and the Valkyrie spears that Rasputin made them.
Copper, I can tell the difference by their eyes, looked up at me in confusion. "Dude, what happened? Why couldn't I use GunSlinger in there?"
"I don't know, kid." I responded, shooting down a few more Cabal. "But we gotta go before I run outta ammo. The Bartender's Revolver can't hold out for much longer."
Ninja tossed me a box of primary ammo and I reloaded, and tossed them each a canister of Cayde Concoction. "Use it to burn out the rest of your Light if you have any. I ran out saving a few Guardians a while back. Find Zavala and Ikora. Meet up at the EDZ, Trostland, tell them." They nodded and ran off.
I turned to the noise of a ship coming in and saw a giant Cabal mothership about to land. I shook my head and pulled out the Leviathan's Breath, drawing back one of the heavy arrows it needs and taking aim at the cockpit. "You overstayed your welcome. Pay The Tab." I let the arrow fly, and it smashed through the window.
It took me around an hour to get on the ship and battle my way through, but I eventually reached the top, where the planes would take off. I skidded to a stop near the edge and gazed down at the Last City. My home was in ruins.
"Foolish moron." A deep voice said behind me. I jumped up and landed behind the source of the voice, only to find myself in front of it.
"Damn, I need to practice more..." I was cut off by an absolutely draining sensation as I fell to my knees, and my Ghost appeared next to me.
"Guardian...something's wrong..." he fell to the floor, completely motionless.
"No..." I groaned, reaching my hand towards the now deactivated Ghost laying on the ground, and pulling it under my slumped form.
I held Ghost close to my chest as I struggled to my knees, glaring up at the foe towering above me. "Your Light, is mine." He said, before putting one boot on my face and kicking me off the edge and making me plummet to the ground.
I'm sorry...
