I woke up in the ruins of the Arc Bar, ironically. There were smashed glasses all around me, and a huge hole in the roof. "God...Damn it...Fat bastard's gotta pay for this..." I groaned, as I sat up, holding my side in pain. How an Exo felt pain, I'll never know, but still.
I looked around my ruined bar for my Ghost. "Bud...?" I called out weakly. No response. I decided to keep going. No one else is here, Zavala and his fire team left to find whoever that big son of a b!tch that almost killed me was and kill him, they evacuated everyone else, and the sweeper bots that were everywhere didn't talk at all. They weren't built to. Copper and Ninja were gone to the EDZ, anyone stupid enough to stay after they lost their Light was killed.
I stumbled along the path to the road, and collapsed to my knees in pain. "Shit...I can't give up yet..." I coughed a little and staggered a bit further.
A light flashed overhead, and something called out in a native language of sorts. A Cabal spotted me. I stumbled under a piece of rubble and behind a wall, pulling out my Bartender's Revolver. One magazine left in the chamber. I lost the other clips when I fell. 6 shots or bust. The sounds of angry Cabal went away after about 5-6 minutes, and I coughed violently.
"G-G-Guardian!?" I heard a familiar voice call out as I pushed the rubble off of me.
A small floating light came over to me and pointed itself right at me.
Ghost nudged me gently. "Guardian, thank the Traveler, you're alive!!!"
I panted softly and forced myself to stand. "Guardian, no! You need rest!"
"Screw rest, I gotta retake the City..."
"It doesn't matter right now, sit down!" Ghost forced me back to the ground and I sighed.
"Alright, alright..." I muttered, resting against a fallen pillar as Ghost healed me up.
"Guardian...they took the Traveler..."
"I know." I responded, with a heavy heart. I looked up at the now dormant ball of Light in the sky.
Ghost was terrified in my hands as I held him. "We can't win now...the other Guardians, they lost their abilities..."
"Yeah...we gotta do something..."
"What CAN we do...? Without the Light, were useless...were trained to live with the Light, and without it, YOU can't exist, because the Traveler brought you back with the Light..."
"I know..."
"Guardian, we have to find someone that can help up, there's no other way...! Maybe someone that lived without the light all their life...like a Human...?"
"Ghost...this is the end...just accept it and help me make a final stand against Ghaul."
"Guardian...do you know what the lack of Light means...?" Ghost said in a horrified voice.
"What?" I asked, fear slowly creeping into my voice.
"If you die..."
I looked at him, realization dawning on my face...
"I can't resurrect you..."
