chapter 56

Khushi has just returned from buajis place...a servant opens the door for her...and since she saw anjali's car parked out side she thinks she already came back....she walks upstairs and knocks before inviting herself inside only to be met with silence...

KHUSHI: if she isn't in her room then where is she??....(she thinks to herself)..

she is about to leave when a piece of paper catches her attention...
she unfolds it only to be shocked at what she reads...she walks over to anjali's wardrobe and opens it only to find most of her staff missing..so its true she left without saying anything to anyone and only left a note telling them not to look for her since she could take care of herself....she just needed to find herself....

Khushi can't help but think how arnav is going to take this....she hates to be the one to break this to him...so she thinks to keep quiet for a while she figures out a way to inform all of this to arnav....

Later that evening....arnav and khushi are seated at the dining and so far she has ignored his attempts to ask about anjali by diverting his questions...She keeps on looking at him from time to time and is barely concentrating on her food...

ARNAV; okay...you barely keep quiet and my throat is practically going sore from overtaking to myself...what's wrong with you? And am not taking "nothing" as an answer

KHUSHI: well am working at this new routine where I talk less and have you do all the talking...you barely talk and when you do your sentences are always short

ARNAV; what the!!!

KHUSHI: see??

ARNAV: I meant the real issue

KHUSHI; am fine...

ARNAV; isn't di coming for dinner....

KHUSHI; do you need a glass of water?...(she says as she pulls out a jug and pours it in the glass handing it over to him)

ARNAV; khushi if I needed it I would probably know....di should have been down by now

KHUSHI; today's food is great right??

ARNAV: khushi

KHUSHI: yes

ARNAV; di...should have been here for dinner right?? I don't see her...is she alright??

KHUSHI: you should give these cooks a raise you know... Their cooking is out of this world

ARNAV: is it just me or are you hiding something from me?

KHUSHI; what makes you think so?

ARNAV: the fact that your deliberately avoiding me whenever i bring up a question on di...what happened, did she fall sick??

KHUSHI; should i add you more food??

ARNAV; khushi am practically restraining myself from shouting at you...so just stop...did anything happen while I was away

KHUSHI; water...should I give you water

ARNAV; you know what...I will just go check myself...cause it seems you won't be talking anytime soon and I don't have the patience...

He stands up abruptly but stops in his tracks when he hears khushi let out a scream...

KHUSHI; the baby just kicked

ARNAV: what?? Khushi do you really think this is a good time to joke around...your barely two months pregnant and your baby is kicking already wow

KHUSHI; he is not just my baby

ARNAV: what difference does it make...your still diverting me from the topic...

Khushi sighs well there goes another foiled attempt...

KHUSHI; she left...(arnav stops once again in his tracks and turns around to face her)

ARNAV; what do you mean by she left??

KHUSHI; i don't know how to say this in a less hurtful and a delicate way but she is gone and she is not coming back at least for a while... She left this house and she didn't say where

ARNAV: your joking right??

KHUSHI; Arnav...

He doesn't pay heed to her and walks upstairs to anjali's room only to find it empty... He calls out her name but she doesn't answer.. He checks her wardrobe and its empty but he keeps on searching and even goes to the bathroom but she isn't there...

Khushi who followed him stares at him in pain looking at arnav who is checking in the drawers and under the bed as if anjali would ever fit there...

KHUSHI; arnav what makes you think anjali would fit in a drawer, that's enough she is gone...she left you and you have to understand that

ARNAV: no she can't leave

KHUSHI: stop being stubborn...arnav

ARNAV; she cant just abandon me..she didn't leave (he says finally starting to realise that's it true and that she left)
He settles down on the floor and stares into space..khushi walks over to him and settles near him)

ARNAV; why would she do that??..

KHUSHI: Perhaps she needed to..

ARNAV; you don't get it...she promised she would never leave me...we promised we would always be together no matter what...but she did

KHUSHI; arnav

ARNAV; just like mom...she too left...she abandoned me...

KHUSHI; don't think of it that way

ARNAV; she didn't find it necessary to inform me...

KHUSHI; listen...arnav she

ARNAV; nothing justifies this

KHUSHI; arnav will you keep quiet and let me talk...stop over reacting

ARNAV: over reacting?? That's exactly what mom..did she never said a word... She just left one day till this day...and now di..too..why?? You too might leave right...

KHUSHI; and why would i??

ARNAV; for the same reason ma and di left

KHUSHI; which is...

ARNAV: i was never meant for love...isnt that why everybody always leaves me...

KHUSHI; but am not everybody...i will never leave you even if you beg me...but i might decide to do that if you don't stop crying?? You call me childish but look who is acting like one right now... Since when am i the mature one in this relationship??

ARNAV: you wont leave me right??

KHUSHI: i wont...i wont leave you ever...your stuck with me for the rest of your life...
(She says as she throws her arms around his neck consoling
