After the Hogwarts war, Hermione Granger went back to finish her 7th year, but after a few months she felt like something was missing. So she went and called up Victor Krum, a famous quidditch player. They dated back when she was in her 4th year, but decided it's better to stay friends.
Now she lives with her best friend Victor Krum and his girlfriend, Levana Berry. She was a real sweetheart and was completely fine with Hermione living there.Because Hermione didn't finish her 7th year, she couldn't really get a job in the wizarding world. She's still in touch with Harry and his husband Draco, but lost her connections to everyone else.
Who would've thought, that the brightest witch of her age would end up as a bartender in London at the age of 23? Well I didn't that's for sure.Anyways, it was Tuesday the 22nd of December at 4:00 and Hermione was on her way to the bar, when she stumbled upon an old classmate.
Well you can't really call him a classmate, more a friend. Her best friend actually.
His name? Ronald Weasly."Hermione, is that you?", the former Gryffindor asked.
"Hey Ronald, how have you been?", she asked with a small smile.
"I'm alright, but... wow. I didn't expect to see you here. Would you like to catch up over a cup of coffee?", he asked.
"Yeah, of course. That would be lovely. But maybe not right now, I'm on my way to work."
Ron just stared at her.
"Work? This late?", Hermione just nodded and sighed.
"You can join me now if you'd like.", she said instantly regretting saying anything at all 'Please say no, Please say no'
"Well, alright. Where do you work?"
Hermione internally cursed herself. "At a bar, just around 7th Rodrick Lane.", she answered. And just like she expected, Ron started laughing.
"Stop laughing Ronald, I'm serious.", she looked around nervously.
Almost immediately, the smile left his face and pang of guilt went through his body at the look the young with gave him.
"Don't look at me like that...", she said tearfully.
"Like what 'mione?", he asked carefully.
"Like everyone else does. Like I'm just a pitiful waste of space. Like everyone expected something of me.", by now she was holding back tears.
"Oh 'Mione, I'm so sorry.", he didn't know what to do, he's never been the best at comforting people.By now big tears were rolling down the young witches cheeks, which she tried to rub at with the back of her hands. So he tried putting a hand on her shoulder, but stopped himself at the last second. 'That would just make things even more awkward'. Instead of patting her back or holding her shoulder, he just swooped her up in his arms, like a giant teddy bear.
"I'm sorry 'mione, I really am.", Ron stroked her back and held her in his arms for a few minutes.
"Why don't you join me in Hogsmead and we can buy you some chocolate frogs. Weren't those your favorite?",
Hermione tried calming down and slowly nodded while rummaging her bag for her mobile. She called her boss and told her, that she wasn't feeling to well.
"Alright. Let's go.", Ron smile softly as he took Hermiones hand and lead her to the next best magical wall. He took out his wand and pointed it at a specific brick. Nothing happened... He tried again, with a spell this time. Still nothing... Suddenly he just started waving the thin stick around until Hermione stopped him.
"Oh Ron, if you keep that up you'll poke someone's eye out. Try this one."
She took out her wand and raised it at a different brick.
"Alohomora."
Just as expected, the wall opened and the dimly lit Hogsmead beamed toward the two.
"I'm having gigantic deja vu feels right now.", said the ginger. Hermione giggled and nodded.
"C'mon, let's go, before the stores close.", before the Ron could answer, Hermione was already pulling him towards the three broomsticks. After a visit to the pub, George's joke shop and a new sweet shop, the two were finally satisfied.
"Oh Merlin, I think I ate too much.", sighed Ron.
"Who are you and what have you done with my best friend?", they stared at each other, before bursting into a fit of giggles.
"So best friend, huh?", asked Ron, after they calmed down.
"Well yeah, unless you don't want to be.", the witch answered.
"We can also just be regular friends, or no friends at all if that's what you—", she was cut off by Ron hugging her.
"Don't say crazy stuff like that. I just got you back, I don't think I can handle you leaving again."
Hermiones arms started finding their way around his neck.
She was happy.
Finally she understood what she needed all those years ago.
"Ron...", she started. He let go of her and looked into two hazelnut colored eyes.
"I think I'm in love with you.", she blurted.
His face went red and his eyes opened in shock. Hermione quickly covered her face, with her hands.
"I-I mean, I like you. N-No wait, that's not right. I've been- no, I think tha-mmpf.", he cut her off again, but this time by placing his lips on hers softly. She let herself sink into the kiss. At this moment both former Gryffindors felt fireworks explode in their stomachs. Ron's hands went back around her waist and her hands found their way into his red locks. He pulled away and let his forehead rest against hers.
"Would you consider coming back to diagon alley with me? As a date, I mean.", Ron asked hopefully.
Hermione smiled at his cuteness and pulled him back down to her to place a soft peck on his cheek.
"I would be delighted."
She looked up at him shyly through thick lashes.
"I like you 'mione, a lot. Even if you work as a bartender and can't afford your own apartment.", he said jokingly.
"Thin ice mate.", was all she replied, with a smile creeping on her face. "I like you too Ronald.", now she was happy. Now the feeling of something missing was gone and it was all thanks to the adorable dork next to her.
