TWISTED FATE

" INTRODUCTION "

Her name is Ellis, born without the father figure by her side, raised by a single mother alone in a small shabby house near the town of Suvblevan.

Her mother works as a helper in a nearby restaurant, the money she got from there was enough to feed the both of them but was not near enough to send her to school.

Ellis was taught everything by her mother since the day she could walk and talk on her own, she became an obedient and independent little girl from the careful nurturing of her mother, she learnt how to cook with the limited ingredients that they have, how to clean and took care of the house on her own while her mother was at work.

Their lives were not as comfortable as others but it was acceptable as long as they have food to fill their stomach and a roof to live under.

Right when she entered the age of 8, came a stranger to their house, knocking loudly on the door. From the window, she saw a rough looking man with fierce eyes staring hard at the closed door as if he could see inside and knew that her mother is in the house.

She then turned around to look at her mother in fear, only to see a blank expression pasted on her mother's face as she stood in the kitchen. Ellis ran to her mother as the knocking got louder and louder, her heart beating fast, somehow she knew that the man outside bring bad news to them. She shook the hands and pulled the worn out gown to get her mother's attention.

When her mother came back from being in a daze, without explaining anything to Ellis, she pulled her to her room and pushed her in, locking the door from outside. Ellis was about to yell when she heard her mother's whisper ;

"Stay inside and be absolutely silent, no matter what you hear from outside, do not make any sound or leave this room, alright love? Please..."

Being scared of not knowing anything but ever obedient to her mother, Ellis hid inside the thin blanket on her bed, flinching occasionally when she heard a thud or two.

A few weeks have passed and the man came to her house each week without fail. It has become a routine for her to hide while being locked inside, that she does not fear the sounds anymore.
Ellis tried asking her mother who he was and what does he want with them but she was told that it was not important, as unimportant as the increasing bruises on her mother's body.

One day, when she heard the loud crash coming from the opposite side, Ellis can't help but pry open her door that her mother forgot to lock. She took a peek, slowly stepping out of her room; she walked towards the kitchen where she thought the sound came from. And what she discovered changed her life forever.

That was the day where everything changed for the better. Her mother bought new clothes for them both; Ellis was sent to the nearby school and picked up by her mother every day. She told her mother all about her class and what she learned on their way back home, a home that is now comfortable to live in.

She never asked where her mother got all the money from. The only thing that is on her mind was to grow up and become a police investigator, fighting bad people and upholding justice.

And listen to what her mother always told her after that day;

"When a man came after you with a bad intent, it is alright to kill them. Just say it's for self defense "
