TRUST ME NOT

CHAPTER 6

In the morning, Zhulin excitedly walked into a company. She was going to meet her senior, Gao Chenyuan. She smiled to herself to cheer up because her mood almost ruined by her husband. He was an annoying brat she had ever met, she believed. She had never imagined how a man could annoy her by just his poker face and few words. He's amazing.

Zhulin was leaded into a waiting room. She sat there reading a file while waiting for her senior.

"Good morning." His soft voice was heard and she looked up smiling. But her smile faded away as her eyes met another pair of bright eyes.

Yang Xiaozhi...

And to her surprised, Yang Xiaozhi was her supervisor for her internship. Out of people, why her? Zhulin felt wrong and uneasy suddenly.

"You don't have to worry, Chenyuan. I'll take care of her. Remember, she's my best friend's wife anyway." Xiaozhi said smiling as Chenyuan told her to be nice to Zhulin.

"Ok, ok. Thanks. Zhulin, work hard, alright?" He patted her back gently and she nodded. Chenyuan shrugged as a goodbye and Xiaozhi turned to smile at the new intern. Her smile was beautiful yet it seemed weird to Zhulin.

"So...let's start working." Sternly, Xiaozhi said walking ahead. Zhulin sighed out following behind. Suddenly, her life encountered so many people, her husband, her husband's (girl)friend, her husband's friends, her husband's step brother and etc.

Zhulin stood in front of the desk facing Yang Xiaozhi who arrogantly crossed her legs on her chair.

"It looks like you're too excited for this job, aren't you?" Xiaozhi asked with her smirk. 

I was. But not anymore. Zhulin thought to herself.

"This is your job description and LuYing will tell you more." She said handing Zhulin a file and she took it without saying anything as LuYing, the assistant came in the room.

"And..." Xiaozhi stretched her words before Zhulin and LuYing could walk out of the room.

"I'm looking forward to your quit." With sarcastic, she stated. Zhulin turned her feet to face Xiaozhi again.

"What do you mean?" She asked staring into Xiaozhi's beautiful eyes.

"To make sure you deserve him, I can't help but to make you work hard and see if you're really capable." She lowly said crossing her arms. Zhulin frowned as her husband was involved between their work.

"Let see how far you can stand this and I also want to see if you're a mama-girl to those who have your back."

Zhulin raised her eyebrow. All her thoughts about Yang Xiaozhi before faded away immediately. She used to admire her when all those professors mentioned her name. But being that close, she lost respect.

"Although I'm disappointed, but I'm not going to give up." Zhulin said with confidence in front of her husband's (girlfriend) or whatever she didn't know how to address her, too.

"Disappointed? Why? You're disappointed that you're here?"

"No, I'm actually disappointed in you. I used to think about you highly since you're my senior. But now I see that you can't classify what's personal matter and what's work, I lose respect."

"You..." LuYing hissed grabbing Zhulin's arm but Xiaozhi stopped her.

"Thanks for planning to make me work hard because that is also my plan. Since we share the same missions, let's go together." Zhulin was always as brave girl. She's not afraid to face any challenges and there, she needed to proof them her worth.
