Author's Note:

Guys as I told earlier that some phrases lose their essence when translated- especially when it comes to abusive slangs- so I would be using many foreign phrases and for your convenience they would be explained in square brackets [ ]. Trust me I had a hard time translating them😅, but I hope you'll like it darlings.

P.S: Above are the characters of Zayyan & Hussain. So if you're done drooling over them then let's start the chapter.

~Hussain~

Cambridge, Massachusetts

''Out of the 13 colonies set up by the British in United States, Massachusetts had a special significance in Independence Movement. Starting with the Boston Tea Party that took place in 1773, when...'' Mrs.Rachel continued to explain some creepy events that occured some two centuries ago when I lost the track of my thoughts and as usual my wandering mind found Sakynah. Oh! What a beauty she was, but it wasn't her face that I fell for, it were her eyes. Her eyes weren't like those shown in movies- not blue, green or something- it were pure brown with a hint of golden when in sunlight. Yet she had that intoxication in them that I found it difficult to make a direct eye contact with her. Now I wasn't a meek or shy guy at all but whenever it came to her, I would suddenly lose my senses and act queer. Consequently, I started to ignore her and acted rude to her but yesterday, in the rehearsals I unexpectedly gave myself away, blurted out my feelings and proposed her, but what surprised me more was her blushing at my proposal and her taking my hand in hers. Did it mean she too had something for me? Did she? Did she imagine me as hers? I laughed despite myself at my wild thoughts. Little did I know that my laughter would turn out awkwardly loud, loud enough for Mrs.Rachel to come up to my desk, knitting her brows in annoyance.

"Mr. Shah? What is so funny about Boston Tea Party and Independence Movement may I ask?'' she said in her squeaky voice, the mockery clear in her tone,'' In fact tell me what exactly is Boston Tea Party?"

The thing I hated about history was it's fancy names, like couldn't  they simply describe an event the way it was rather than exaggerating it.

''Stand up and explain, the class wants to listen.'' she gave me a deadly look. As directed, I stood at my desk, looked around for any clues from someone when all of a sudden I found Adam mouthing me something, I tried to make out what he possibly meant and finally came up with the words,''Mam, Americans ditched tea at Boston.''

The whole class burst out into giggles, the highest giggles from were from the front bencher- topper girls. ''Americans didn't ditch the tea, they spilled it into the sea out of protest.'' She corrected and then abruptly shouted, '' NOW GO OUT OF MY CLASS AND DITCH WHOMEVER YOU WANT!''

''Mam, that's not what I mean-'' I tried to recompense.

'' GET OUT! And of course, 10 marks are already deducted from your upcoming assignment. Keep going with your daydreaming.''she added with a smirk.

''Sorry.'' I pleaded but I knew all too well she does what she says because the last time she caught me sneaking into girls' bathroom, she made me do 50 burpees in front of whole class, which I preferred to avoid so I went out.

*****

I didn't know when the class got over as I roamed through the corridors with my airpods turned on, listening to One Direction and singing along when without warning someone knocked me in the head, as I turned my head I discovered that it was none other than Zayyan.

''Kaminey! [you fucking man],'' Zayyan nearly spat at me, hitting me one more time while I tried to figure out what the hell was going on,'' How dare you propose her in front of whole club.'' I couldn't help but chuckle at the mention of yesterday's wild incident.

''You better stay in your fucking limits, you snake!'' This time he bashed me with such force that I collapsed, I couldn't believe for the life of me that Zayyan would be that infuriated on such a minor act but then again his desi, possessive self must have got triggered when it came to his girl. '' You were like a brother to me, I didn't let you in my house so that you could have a nasty eye on my sister.'' Zayyan thundered and just as he was about to kneel down on me with his one hand raised, someone from behind him shove him aside. As I caught on who it was, my heart skipped a beat to see that it was her.

She grabbed him by the waist trying to pacify him as I slowly raised from the floor, stunned and delighted that she actually came to save me. It was not that I needed her assistance- like I could've fought Hussain myself- but I liked her concern for me. By now a great deal of crowd had gathered around us and my badass self thought that this would be a fortunate time to be a macho in front of Sakynah, so I seized Zayyan by his shirt collars and declared looking in his eyes,'' So the big bro gets that concerned about his sis, huh? But you better ask her consent first. Remember she said yes.'' I finished off the last words almost in a whisper, having a victorious smirk on my face yet little did I know that our principal, Mr. Chatteris, was on the round and apparently he saw the hussle from a completely wrong prespective. In his eyes, it was I who held the other person by collar so technically I became the fugitive.

''What do you think you are doing? You thought you would get away with bullying and physically abusing your classmate? Come to my office right away.'' Mr. Chatteris shouted at me. Just when I thought it couldn't get worse, Mrs. Rachel appeared on the scene giving me the same vicious look.

'' You again! Why is it that whenever there is trouble you are always involved? I guess it's in his ethnicity, you know Mr. Chatteris, the region he belongs to is known for its ferocious and extremist people.'' Now Mrs.Rachel ridiculed on my race at which my hands clenched into a fist yet I tried my best to remain silent to not let the situation worsen. Straight away Sakynah jumped into the scenario and stood between the principal and me, I was dazed at how her little figure had so much audacity- like the girls of her height were afraid of lizards yet she wasn't.

'' With all due respect Mr. Chatteris, I wouldn't have interceeded if I weren't an eye witness. You had a misunderstanding, actually it were Zayyan and I who were fighting and Hussain just came to help me out. Hussain held Zayyan's collar because the former wanted to stop him from creating a scene, and as for ethnicity,'' she paused a second, looking our headmaster in the eye,'' I would say that America itself is melting pot where people from all parts of the world are dwelling, your school is an International School and our dramatics incharge Mr. Frank, for instance, also belongs to Korea. And being barbaric is a human trait, everywhere in the world people fight just the way America has been fighting the Afghans ever since 9/11. Right Mrs.Rachel? So you can't be racist on that issue.'' She ended with slight nod. Woah man! I really liked the girls who were strong enough to stand alone and this little speech of hers doubled my respect for her.

''You three will be detained after school for 2 hours for this tussle in the cafeteria and backfiring at your teacher. Now dismissed.'' Mr. Chatteris gave the order that he loved.
