Chapter 12:
I went flying into the ground as the Rogue Alpha stood on top of me. I couldn't get him off of me. I couldn't get into my wolf form.
A blur of black went across my vision and had the Rogue Alpha off of me. Xavier had shifted and now tackled him.
I stood quickly and shifted, I was about to help my mate when the Rogue Alpha kicked Xavier off of him with surprising strength.
Xavier flew across the small clearing and slammed into a tree. He landed next to an unconscious Thomas and did not rise. He wasn't dead, that's all I knew.
Keeping an eye on the Rogue Alpha I mind linked some pack members.
I need two people to the small clearing on the west, your Beta and Co-Alpha are down.
I got replies and told them to take them to the pack doctor.
I focused back on the Rogue Alpha and we began circling each other. I tried and failed to spot any weaknesses that I could put to an advantage.
He made the first move, lunging for my left side. I quickly dodged and snapped my jaws at his face. The Rogue Alpha jumped back just in time to not get bit.
We went back to circling and snapping at each other. I took the risk of glancing over to Xavier and Thomas, who were gone. Thank the Goddess they were getting help.
The Rogue Alpha noticed the glance and took the opportunity to tackle me. I felt him slam into my side for a second time and pin me to the ground.
I was under him, belly up, and could not get free. His jaws were coming closer to my neck, I struggled harder to break free.
I was scratching up his underbelly pretty bad, but he didn't react. All he wanted was blood. More specifically, my blood.
He pulled back to get ready for the finishing blow. I knew I couldn't get out, so I closed my eyes and waited for death to claim me.
Suddenly, his weight was off of me. I flew up off of the ground to find a grey wolf on top of the Rogue Alpha. The grey wolf showed no amount of hesitation as it plunged its teeth into the Rogue Alphas neck.
The Rogue Alpha struggled, then went still. After the mystery wolf made sure he was dead, he trotted off into the trees to shift. I did the same.
When I emerged I saw Justin, Greg's son, standing in the middle looking at the dead body of his father.
"Thank you, for saving my life," I said, not knowing what else I could say.
"He was a bad person...they both were. I overheard the Rogue Alpha saying that after they defeated you, he was going to kill my father and take both packs for himself. I tried telling that to my father, but he wouldn't listen and had threatened to kill me. That's when I realized my father was not a good man."
"It's okay. You can and will be so much better than your father. I know it."
Justin nodded and we sat in silence for a while longer, until I broke the ice.
"I would be honored to share an alliance with you as the new Alpha."
He smiled and nodded at me. As we counted our casualties, he told me how he refused to fight and would rather stay at the pack. Once he felt his father die, he came running to see how he could help.
We parted ways, talking about the new alliance and that was that.
"Your mate is awake and asking for you," Rose informed me.
I ran toward the pack hospital and barged into Xavier's room.
I ran over and hugged him, burying my face into his chest. I was close to tears, I was so relieved he was okay.
Xavier stroked his hand in my hair, hugging my tight. He pulled back and looked at me, worry laced his features.
He clicked the assistant button on the side of the bed, what for?
A nurse rushed in, Xavier pointed at me. The nurse took one look at me and ran to get a doctor.
"What are they-"
I winced as Xavier touched my face. Oh right, the claw marks. They should have healed by now.
The doctor came in and stated that many rogues have been found with poison on their claws. And because I had gotten hit with it, it kept my wounds from healing.
They set to getting the poison from out of my face, which only took thirty minutes. And put some bandages over the marks.
I turned back to Xavier once they were out of the room.
I jumped on him and sealed our lips together, Xavier responded immediately. He wrapped his arms around me and hauled me into his lap, where he deepened the kiss.
He started to trail kisses down my neck, finding my sweet spot.
"Mark me," I pleaded.
He looked up and me, unsure. I gave him a nod of encouragement and he went back to my neck.
He trailed kisses up and down the column of my neck, not touching my sweet spot. Eventually, after much teasing, he settled on my sweet spot, making me let out a small moan.
His teeth grazed the spot, again giving me the option to back out. I grabbed the back of his head and pulled it toward my neck.
He gave one last kiss to my mouth, and the sweet spot before plunging his teeth into my neck.
A while after I had calmed down, I returned the favor.
