Days passed into weeks, and weeks passed into months. Daniel Westin spent every waking moment grooming Subject Thirteen into the perfect fighting machine. Timing was everything to his plan. Master Chief had lost his friend and counterpart Cortana in the explosion that saved the Earth from being destroyed nearly two years ago, and he was still feeling the pain as though he had just lost her yesterday. This made him vulnerable to Westin. He could easily ask for a drop of his blood, and the Spartan would give it up without a fight. The time was perfect. All he needed now, was a clear shot at him. Then...Thirteen could finish him off for good. Right now John-117 was suppose to be resting somewhere on the planet Gao, taking a well deserved vacation. This would be the perfect time to test the girl's abilities.
"You seem proud of your plan Daniel."
"I have not forgotten that the plan was, and always is yours sir." Westin bowed.
"Thirteen has come a long way. We have forcefully aged her fourteen years...but the time is upon us my friend."
"I understand. Master Chief has been a thorn in the sides of the UNSC and ONI for a while, but no longer."
Commander Westin looked to the screen above his head and smiled.
"Let operation "Broken Hero" begin." he chuckled.

Ball gowns swirled as the people of Gao danced and laughed the night away. Every member of the colonized planet was drinking their cares into oblivion as the year's grandest festival continued full blast. Far away from the lights and music was a mountainous suit of armor standing watch with his pistol ready for anything to go wrong.
"Aren't you coming to the party?" Lady Smith asked. Lady Amanda Smith was an important member of Earth. She and her husband Sir David Smith both held high positions in the UNSC and had great pull with the Office of Naval Intelligence.
"Come. There's nothing happening out here. Why don't you come and be my bodyguard?" she laughed. The suit of armor simply shook its helmet.
"I know what happened to you was a tragedy, but you have to live past that. I heard you were sent here to have a vacation, so why don't you enjoy yourself?"
The suit of armor walked further from the woman and more towards the sea. He kept his eyes opened for any and everything. Lady Smith scoffed and walked back to the party. The sudden sound of her cries shot through the night and alerted the warrior. The soldier ran to the scene and saw the people of Gao crowded around the dead body of Lady Smith.
"He killed her!!" a woman screamed, pointing to the soldier. The people automatically looked to the warrior in horror and anger. The soldier walked closer to Lady Smith's body and took one last glance at her.
"Impossible..." he whispered. Lady Smith was killed by an M6 Blaster. His gun.

"This is madness. Master Chief was sent to the planet Gao specifically for R&R. How the hell did he get himself into this predicament?!"
The entire organization of the United Nations Space Command was in an uproar over the sudden murder of Lady Smith. Everyone was looking for answers, and afraid to say what they were really thinking.
"Sirs, if I may..." Commander Westin announced. He stood tall and strong as the UNSC council looked to him.
"This is exactly what I was afraid of. John-117, aka Master Chief has taken it upon himself to be judge, jury, and as we've just seen, executioner. This man has become a problem for not only just us, but for the entire galaxy, if I may be so bold."
"What makes you think he could do such a thing Daniel?" Commander Lasky retorted. "Master Chief has done more for humankind than any of us. He was always the one making the hard choices that any of you wouldn't dare make! How could you stand there and say such blasphemy?"
"I can say what I have to say Commander Lasky because I do not hold a personal relationship with Master Chief. I am one of the few who look at John-117's position in this military. Master Chief's role has been a very useful and helpful one, but little by little I have seen many of our officers placing him in too high a command. It was only a matter of time before that power went to his head."
Commander Lasky abruptly rose from his seat when a higher officer stopped him.
"Daniel has a point Thomas. We have let Master Chief get away with everything he needed and wanted."
"John isn't vying for some higher seat of power! He's a soldier true, but he's a human being first. He would never put himself before the needs of the human race!" Lasky hollered.
"Then why did he disobey my orders when I told him to hand over his malfunctioning A.I? Why did he say that he was the only one who could talk to ancient Forerunners, and is the only one who is immune to the weapon known as the Composer?" Commander Del Rio questioned. He walked out into the middle of the floor. The council murmured in curiosity.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I was there when Master Chief took one of the escape pods from the Infinity and went down to the planet Requiem to destroy a Forerunner monster his damaged A.I had released. If he is such a loyal soldier, then why is he constantly questioning and disobeying any and every order given to him?"
"You make it sound as if John does it on purpose. Sometimes orders have to be questioned." Lasky lashed out.
"I know John-117 is an old friend of yours Lasky, but you have to come to facts. He has become unstable and is a danger to us as well as to himself." Westin barked. The council agreed with the older commander. Sir David rose to his feet.
"Commander Daniel Westin, I am ordering you to find, and bring the war criminal John-117, also known as the Master Chief Petty Officer, before the United Nations Space Command for trial."
"I understand sir. I already have an assembled team, and they're ready to move out at a moments notice." Westin tried his hardest not to smile. Everything was going according to plan.
"The moment...is now." Sir David ordered.
