E/C eyes, closely scanned the streets as the ground glistened with fresh rain. Y/N kept his attention trained onto each and every person who passed by him. His paranoia almost getting the best of him, were it not for the cool night air that always had a way of calming his nerves. He wasn't paranoid for any particular reason, he simply felt it best to keep his guard up at all times. After all, a villain had only attacked earlier today. Only to be stopped shortly after by the two heroes, Kamui Woods and Mt. Lady. The young boy kept walking, his footfalls, now rhythmically hitting the ground.
Once he reached the apartment he called home, he took his keys out of his pocket and unlocked the off white door. After stepping into his apartment and locking the door behind him, he took off the mask that obstructed his face and set it on a nearby table. Reaching for the fridge door, he put away the groceries he had just bought. His movements seemed slow and weighted. It seemed the exhaustion of the past two sleepless nights had finally caught up with him. He quickly finished unpacking the food, and dragged himself to bed, only sparing a moment to check the clock that read 2:24 am, before collapsing on his bed in exhaustion.
Fire engulfed Y/N's vision as he snapped his head in every direction trying to make sense of the situation at hand. He started running forward, not knowing where else to go, until he heard the cry of a familiar voice. Mother. He ran towards the voice, not even caring to listen to what it was saying. Maybe this time, this time he could save them. He got to a room that felt all too familiar to him. And found his parents, both of them stuck under a large beam. On instinct, he ran up to them and attempted to lift the beam. Only for it to burst into flames and turn to ash not a second later. He immediately recoiled, yet he felt no pain at the fire that was lapping at his skin. Wasting no time, he immediately reached out to his parents to help them up, but when their hand met his, they too, became nothing but ash. Their screams of agony ripped through his mind, as his last memory. Before he woke up.
Y/N shot up out of bed, sweat beading at his brow. The shadows in the room now restless and slowly crawling around the room. They seemed to reach out to Y/N, trying in vain to grasp at him. Y/N sighed and with a dismal wave of his hand, the shadows crept back to their positions, once more in a state of rest. Tonight was going to be without sleep just like the rest it seems. Y/N raked his hands through his hair in frustration, that was the third time that nightmare had occurred this week. As if he needed anymore reminders that he was alone. Knowing that sleep wasn't coming back anytime soon. He got up from his bed and grabbed a jacket and his mask before opening his window to the fire escape. Making as little noise as possible he climbed up the steep metal stairs and ladders. Climbing up the last few rungs, Y/N stepped onto the rooftop and walked over the the edge to sit down. He took out his phone and scrolled through article upon article about the villain attack. Apparently the fight with Kamui and Mt Lady wasn't the only one that occurred that day. Intrigued Y/N opened a new article on the situation, his eyebrows quirking up when he read that All Might has been the one to defeat the villain. Not to mention the kid that was held hostage by the disgusting sludge villain. Taking interest in the matter Y/N looked further into the incident and found a video of the whole scene that a civilian has taken. Y/N pressed play on the video and watched as a angry blond kid about his age was restrained by the villain. By the way the kid was being held, he seemed to be suffocating due to most of his face being covered. The shadows around Y/N made an angry swish as the camera panned to the heroes at the scene. The were just sitting there, doing nothing. All the while making excuses about their quirk not being 'fit for the job'. Don't they understand that being a hero is their job. Are they scared they'll lose, do they value their reputation over a human life? Because last time Y/N checked, being a hero meant that you stood for what was deemed right, not matter the cost. Or at least it's what it meant to him. Yelling drew Y/N's attention back to his phone as, the 'heroes' yelled at some kid. Y/N's eyes narrowed as a small green haired kid recklessly ran toward the villain and proceeded to throw his bag at it. Only succeeding in angering it more. To be completely honest Y/N thought the kid was dead meat right then and there. That is until All Might showed up. Even through a screen Y/N could feel the relief of all of those who were at the scene. That's just the type of effect a hero like All Might has, Y/N could respect that. With a single punch the villain was detained. The crowd started to murmur in shock as the weather took a full 180 and started raining. The angry blond was soon surrounded by the heroes, who praised him for his strong quirk and ability to withstand the villain for that long. While they moved on to lecturing and chastising the green haired boy. Y/N let out a curt sigh, angered by the heroes actions. The boy had forsaken all logical judgment to save someone, he had done the job the heroes were afraid to do. And now they are just going to ignore that to save their own pride. The world needed more people like that boy. That thought caused an idea to flash in Y/N's mind, it was odd, foreign even, for him to think of such a thing, but what if, he became a hero? Y/N shook his head as if to rid himself of the thought, but it stayed. He most definitely has a strong quirk, and he had trained it well. But he knew for a fact that he didn't have the most hero-like mindset. But that could change, right? Y/N sighed and abruptly stood up. As quietly as he could he climbed back down the fire escape and into his bedroom. Laying down on his bed, he closed his E/C eyes, his nightmare now long forgotten. He allowed his new thoughts to pull him into a much deserved sleep.
