(Y/N)'S P.O.V.
After a delicious dinner filled with bread rolls, mashed potatoes, and a disturbing, yet interesting, display from the ghost Ron called "Nearly Headless Nick," I follow Percy Weasley to the Gryffindor common room.
"Gryffindors, follow me please, keep up. Thank you." Percy repeats for the umpteenth time in the last minute.
We walk up the stairs as the Ravenclaw group beside us takes walks in another direction. The Gryffindors stop walking and I stand at the railings of the staircase, looking up at the paintings decorating every inch of the wall.
"This is the most direct path to the dormitories. Oh, and keep an eye on the staircases. They like to change." Percy tells us. I look at one of the sets of stairs and it really is changing. It swerves from one platform to another. I smile as I watch with wonder.
Percy begins to move up the stairs, beckoning is to follow. As we walk, the paintings on the walls wave and smile at us. I return the gesture, waving brightly at a painting of a man holing an open book. His soft eyes land on me.
"Welcome to Hogwarts." He says kindly. I give him a curt nod and playfully curtsy before I continue walking.
After a couple more minutes of walking within the castle, we reach a portrait of a lady in a puffy, pink dress, holding a hand fan. Her hair is styled in ringlets and she looks off in the distance with a slight smile. We look at her, waiting for her to move. She closes her fan and places it in her hand, looking to us expectantly.
"Password?" She asks.
"Caput Draconis." Percy says.
The portrait swings aside slowly, showing a small hole. Percy ducks down and enters. Harry follows after him, and I'm the next to enter. As I walk in further, I look around at the beautifully decorated room. It feels warm and welcoming, the tones of red practically hugging me.
The group all stand in the middle of the room as Percy looks over us.
"Welcome, to the Gryffindor common room." Percy says. "Boys dormitories are upstairs and down, to your left, girls, the same on your right. You'll find all your belongings have already been brought up."
He gives us a nod, turning around and climbing up the stairs. The majority of people follow him, including Ron, Hermione, Harry, and I. I say a quick goodnight to Harry and Ron before entering the girl's dorm with Hermione. I smile at the room and look around with happiness. Hermione calmly sits on a bed, admiring the room as well.
