Chapter One

                                                  ONE

Bailey and I are sitting at the restaurant, and  she is signering at her boyfriend Colten, who gives her a little peck on the cheek rubbing her shoulders back and forth. We've been here 15 minutes and we have just ordered food.
Our food came  in five minutes. Colten has his arm around Bailey now stroking her neck and ruffling her hair. We ate in silence for another three minutes when Colten finally said abruptly,
" So Aubrey, Bailey here tells me that you guys are going to be in the same theatre program together: which is awesome,'' he says with a smile.
" Yeah that's right I said staggering slightly , I think Bailey will bring a new perspective to the theatre program and she is an amazing actress.
"I agree, Colten said honestly giving Bailey a kiss, she is amazing and I can't wait to see her perform."
Bailey lightly pushed Cotlen away from her face, he looked at her astonished: Bailey snuggled up next to him and he put his arm around her, while looking at her phone with her, she obviously heard something about her parents. Bailey's situation is unique because she is living with her boyfriend and his parents because her father is incapable of taking care of her
Bailey quietly left to go to the bathroom, tears pouring down her face. Cotlen and I looked at each other astonished. After a few minutes I told him,
" You should probably go and see her, I suggested whole heartedly: I'm worried about her."
" Yeah your right Aubrey I should, he replied solemnly, ''I'll go now.

He left heading towards the girls bathroom to search for Bailey, a look of worry in his eye. He finally found her in the Family bathroom instead screaming and crying huddled with her hands between her legs the door shut in front of Cotlen.

He lightly pushed her off and pulled her body up his arm returning to her and they walked out of the bathroom.

We all return to the table after a few minutes. I sat there silent,
I continued to sit there in silence, the ominous lamps giving an iridescent glow in the slightly dark room. I finally mustered up the courage to talk, my fingers tapping on the table, After i performed this motion I began to speak,
" Bailey are you okay, I asked with all the concern of a best friend.
" Of course I'm okay, what made you think otherwise!! she yelled, also displaying a slight rage which I had never seen before.
"Shhh, babe calm down Colten said sternly but with concern, we're in a public place you don't need to yell. 
" Sorry Aubrey, Bailey replied sadly, I stupidly thought you were someone else, it's something about my mom, I don't feel comfortable talking about it.
" It's alright,'' I said sternly, but she knew I was mad at her for reacting like that.
"I need to tell you  guys something", I replied after awhile
" What, Bailey and Colten said together in unison. 
I stared blankly at both of them, I tried to speak but honestly nothing came out. They looked at me surreptitiously, and I slumped on my chair embarrassed, my eyes blinking every two seconds. Finally after what seemed like forever we all got up, grabbed our coats: It was late September and said goodbye respectively. Cotlen payed  with part of his paycheck from work and put his arm around Bailey and turned the other way, walking in unison.
Meanwhile Bailey pulls Cotlen aside her ocean blue nails having a dominant grip on his shirt. They kissed, and Bailey pulled her lips away like they were suction cups. She looked at him concerned and said,
" Is everything ok with Aubrey Bailey asked, I'm worried about the girl she clearly didn't get to say what she wanted to say."
I'm sure she's fine Cotlen replied, giving her a kiss on the head, come on let's go.
I left the almost empty restaurant through the front entrance, shutting the olive coloured door. And then I drove away in my moms car with my face pressed against the window.

I met Bailey at school, bright and early. Our school isn't a very big school but it's  big enough to fit all 100045 students in it. The school is called Ruford Jensen Middle School and it is located, about 20 km from my house. Anyway Bailey and I bump into each other, our backpacks almost floating in the air. We get up off the slight patch of grass outside and exchange hands and give warm hugs. Colten came up behind us and we both screamed and then giggled because we knew who it was. All together we walked inside sticking close to each other in the slight darkness. Bailey groaned as she was heading to basketball with me  after school for our practice and there was no way we would be able to practice in the dark. After awhile she spoke saying,
" The powers out again, '' she said exasperated, to be honest I'm not surprised; we need practice regardless we've got a tournament coming up in a month.
" It's not a big deal, it will come back on, '' Colten replied, smirking slightly but in a delicate way, I at least don't have to worry about it, I don't have to play inside.
" That's because you play Rugby, Bailey replied annoyed, you lucky boy she added with a smirk.
" Come on babe you know I'm just joking, Colten replied, giving her a kiss.
