(Karmen)
The next morning I made my way downstairs to have breakfast, I had managed to get Marcus to meet me during the day, but he only said that he could meet me at about ten. I managed to get downstairs and pour myself a cup of coffee. Lucinda was in the kitchen making breakfast. She said good morning and I returned it. I hadn't seen Jason at all, so I assumed that I wouldn't see him at all this morning, I usually didn't.
Today I was wrong. Jason came into the kitchen wearing Khaki dress pants and a white button down. He hadn't put on his shoes or jacket yet, but it definitely looked like he had somewhere important to go. He said good morning to Ms. Lucinda and she smiled brightly at him and began waiting on him damn near hand and foot. I would usually be very surprised at the change with how she acted with me compared to him, but for I didn't know anything about their relationship. Let alone anything about Jason other than the kind of relationship he had with his dad.
"Good morning." He said to me. I looked over at him and mumbled a good morning before shuffling over to the table and sitting with my coffee. Lucinda made him a plate and brought it over to the table.
"Are you not going to eat breakfast?" I shook my head. I had stopped eating breakfast once my mom got sick. I usually worked so late that I would sleep too long and by the time I got up it was time for me to get back to work. Now my stomach didn't have the capacity to have breakfast.
"I don't usually eat breakfast." I said taking another sip of coffee. I looked him over again and then at the plate. It did look really good, but I knew what my mistake would be the moment that I started eating. I would end up sick later and I didn't want that.
"Where are you going all dressed up?" I asked. He took a bite of eggs and chewed and swallowed before answering me. Lucinda brought him over a cup of coffee as well and glared at me before walking off. I sighed, I had tried everything to get her to like me. I tried to help her clean, I tried to leave my room as neat as possible, I had even offered to help with meals, but no matter what I did she wouldn't like me. So, I left her alone and even then, I could still feel that she hated my guts.
" I have a meeting with my father today and then I have to head over to the company to start building alliances or whatever." I nodded. The only thing that I had heard and understood about companies was through my mother's dramas she would watch. Other than that I knew nothing.
"Ah, by the way, Derek is supposed to come by today to pick you up. He's supposed to take you shopping." I looked at him confused.
"Shopping for what?" Jason was looking at the newspaper.
"Clothes." Was all he said. He looked at his watch and put the newspaper down. He'd finished his breakfast and was now moving to his room to grab the rest of his clothes. I quickly followed him upstairs.
"What do you mean he's taking me shopping for clothes? I have enough clothes." He shook his head. He was trying to tie his tie, but was failing miserably. I walked over to him and swatted his hands out of the way and somehow managed to undo the knot he made. I began to re-tie it.
"Yeah, but Emily was right the other night, you didn't know what kind of clothes to wear to dinner and in a couple of months you'll be going to a big Gala with me and we need to get you all caught up on etiquette and what not before then." I nodded and tried my best not to be offended, but I also knew that he was right. That night when I went to get dressed, I hadn't known what to wear or what all to do, so I ended up having to just grab the first thing that I had seen.
"He should be here around 12, so try to be here when he gets here." I nodded, he sounded so professional this morning. I'd only heard him be flirty or irritated, never so business like. He must have been really nervous about this meeting with his dad. When I was done tying the tie I stepped back and let him see the masterpiece in the mirror.
