With a heavy feeling in his chest Barrett sat on the back of Jeep next to his make shift base in the woods. Leaning against his Jeep he held his breath as four vehicles drove down the rugged trail along the forest.
A large pick up truck pulled up to Barrett and two men go out and two more jumped from the cab. "Barrett."
TK approached, stepping out of his rusted Black Camaro. The man looked him up and down with disgust on his face. He wasn't the biggest of them, or the strongest. But he was the deadliest.
TK was an expert Hunter and the founder of the Red Kota's. This was a man that kept track of all his kills in the form of scarification on his back. 112 small dashes in his skin to remind the others of Wolves he had taken.
He dressed in a dirty leather duster, heavy scarves around his neck that covered an array of scars from his battles. A long jagged scar went across the length of his cheek. His voice was deep and raspy when he spoke, striking fear into Barrett.
"My son. We're here. Where is your team?"
"Killed in action sir." It was rhetorical question by he chose to answer anyway.
"Your men? My men." He corrected him. "Killed in action by a couple of wolves in a town that's the size of a shoebox."
"We were ambushed, unaware of the amount of wolves that actually inhabited the area."
TK took his Kota blade from his hip holster and stared at Barrett with rage in his eyes, though his voice was calm, "I sent Mandy and Tara to investigate. They said they can bag us two wolves tonight. What do can you give me?" His words held an unspoken threat.
"I offer the remains of two wolves I found in the Hills. Pups."
"Pups." He huffed. "They offer little sustenance. Their bodies are useless. So you, offer us nothing." TK continued speaking before Barrett could respond. "Where is Wes Daniels?"
"The Sheriff betrayed us."
TK laughed, but the smile never reached his eyes, "You wouldn't lie to me now, would you?"
"No sir." Barrett replied confidently, but it was obvious he was afraid.
"I spoke with the Sheriff, he says he offered us Charles Talley and his entire pack in the Honey Hills. As long as you left his son alone. A fair trade I would say."
"Wes attacked me and the team once we moved in on Charlie and Marian."
"That's not what I heard boy." TK stood only inches from him eyeing him as if he were searching for the truth, tapping his Kota blade against the Jeep making a annoying ringing sound that echoed in the quiet woods. "I heard you went after Deputy Caleb Talley instead. That you didn't even try to find the wolves in the hills."
"That's incorrect sir. Our team didn't have the manpower to search the Hills. We tried to track the wolves up there but the trail always went cold. Caleb Talley attacked us and left us no choice but to-"
