King woke that night to find Ram restless in the bed beside him. Ram's hands were gripping the sheets tightly as he twisted his legs this way and that, his face contorted in fear. Small whimpers escaped his twisted lips. King's heart ached when he saw his Ram in such pain. It was clear he was having a nightmare.
"Hey, hey, Ram, it's okay, you're okay," King murmured over and over, pulling Ram into his arms and stroking his forehead.
King felt not only worried about Ram, but also guilty. Talking about his past with Matt had obviously dredged up Ram's dark memories, resulting in his current state, and King was the one who had asked Ram to talk about it. He cursed himself in his head as he tried to settle Ram in his sleep.
Slowly, Ram's hands released the bed covers, instead gently grabbing onto King. His face relaxed and he rubbed his head on King's chest, reminding King of an affectionate kitty. Once Ram appeared to be sleeping peacefully once again, King let himself drift off.
The same thing occurred a few more times during the night, and each time King would comfort the sleeping Ram until he seemed to calm down. They were both exhausted the next morning, King from waking up every hour and Ram from not being able to sleep peacefully.
When Ram finally climbed out of bed to get ready to head off to university, King just groaned, rubbing his eyes. His brain felt slow and tired while his eyes were burning with the need to close.
"Are you okay?" Ram asked, sitting down fully clothed on the bed next to King.
"Mmm, just tired," King replied, using Ram's body to pull himself up.
"I'm sorry, my King."
"It's not your fault," King mumbled, his head resting in the crook of Ram's neck.
"I kept waking you up."
"You were having nightmares, that's not your fault. It's my right, as your boyfriend, to take care of you."
Ram blushed, unable to contain his smile. When King had said that it was his right as Ram's boyfriend, Ram's heart had begun to beat strongly, not racing, though it had sped up, but more like each beat had additional power, making his chest ache a little.
"King?"
"Mmm?"
"Can I kiss you?"
King froze. Something in Ram's voice sent prickles all over his body as goose bumps began to appear. Then he moved away a little so he could face Ram. Seeing the look on Ram's face made King shiver, and he began to lean back against the headboard. There was not much time left before they had to head to campus, but King really didn't want to wait until their lectures were over. Biting his lip, King nodded.
A rush of excitement flooded Ram's body and he moved quickly, climbing on top of King. He gently took King's hands in his and pinned them up next to his head. Ram scanned King's expression for any sign of discomfort but found only dilated pupils and flushed cheeks. With a grin, he gradually leaned down to press his lips against King's in a leisurely kiss. It started off tender and careful, then King moaned, and Ram almost lost his mind. He began to kiss more forcefully, sliding his tongue into King's mouth, pushing for dominance. When he felt King nip at his bottom lip, it was almost like an electric current had been applied to the bottom of his spine, but it also tugged on the last thread of his sanity. It was time to pull back before things went any further, they had to leave soon. However, as soon as Ram began to move his lips away, King whined, arching up against Ram.
"Damn, baby," Ram breathed, the words escaping before he could consider them, all thoughts of university had flown out his head at King's behaviour.
Ram began to suck and nip down King's neck, the sweet scent of King riling him up further.
King could no longer focus on anything but Ram. Once Ram had whispered that endearment, King was gone. At another time he may have been embarrassed, but right now he was not in the slightest. He just wanted Ram to keep touching him.
The blaring of the alarm clock yanked them out of their pleasure-filled bubble. They were both panting, a little disoriented. King recovered first and, feeling flustered, he pushed Ram away, racing into the bathroom to shower.
The two were quiet the rest of the morning, both a little lost in their thoughts.
"Hey, King and Ram!" Boss yelled in greeting as the couple walked towards the regular table in the engineering faculty.
"Hey," King murmured, feeling sleepy again, while Ram just nodded.
"Well, don't you two look tired," Bohn smirked teasingly as Ram and King sat down.
King ignored that comment, taking some papers out of his bag instead.
"So, you took my advice from yesterday, right?"
King was confused, he couldn't remember Bohn giving him any advice yesterday, but truth be told, a lot had happened yesterday.
"What advice?"
"You know in the workshop yesterday, when I was talking to you about being safe when y-"
King slapped his hand over Bohn's mouth to stop him from continuing. He had regretted asking as soon as he did.
"I remember. You can shut up now," King muttered, warning in his tone, before removing his hand.
"Good, I hope you remembered it last night."
"What?!"
"Oh come on, you and Ram are both exhausted, and I mean, look at those hickeys," Bohn whispered, point at King's neck, at least having the sense to lower his volume so the others couldn't hear.
"What? Hickeys?"
Bohn took out his phone so that King could look at himself in the camera. There was a trail of small bruises heading down the side of King's neck. King had no idea how he had missed them when he was getting ready that morning.
"Ram!" King hissed, jerking his head in Ram's direction.
Ram blushed, giving King a sheepish smile. Then he leaned in to King's ear.
"Sorry, baby."
