Ram frowned as he noticed King staring off into the distance. It was not the first time. King had been zoning out a lot recently, and Ram was getting worried.
"Are you okay, my King?"
When there was no reply, Ram gently shook King's arm and repeated the question.
"Huh? Oh, I'm fine."
"Are you sure?"
King turned to look at Ram, taking his hand, and made deep eye-contact to convince Ram. He wasn't okay, but he didn't want to burden Ram. His nephew was not getting any better. The doctors were currently just treating his symptoms, but not the underlying disease, mainly because they had no idea what it was. While his condition was stable so far, they couldn't keep treating him this way forever. At a certain point, the drugs would no longer work as well, and he would begin to deteriorate.
"Ayyy!"
King was pulled out of his thoughts when his friends began to tease him and Ram. They had been staring at each other, holding hands, for quite some time now.
"Oh, shut up," He huffed at them, before standing and whispering to Ram, "I'm going to the bathroom, I'll be back soon."
King patted Ram's shoulder then walked off in the direction of the toilets, not noticing Bohn get up and follow him. As he came back out of the bathroom, he bumped into Bohn who had been pacing in front of the door.
"King, I need your help," Bohn exclaimed, grabbing King's arms and shaking him with urgency.
"Wh-a-a-a-t?" King tried to ask, his voice jolting with every shake.
"I made Duen mad."
"Of course, you did," King murmured, pushing Bohn to get him to release his arms, "How exactly?"
"I might have said something he didn't appreciate."
"I know the feeling," King sighed, folding his arms and raising an eyebrow at Bohn.
"Yes, yes. I'm a terrible friend. Help me!" Bohn fake-wailed, making a begging motion with his hands.
"Have you tried apologising?"
"Uh, well at the moment he's ignoring me, so I can't."
"What in the hell did you say?"
"I sai-"
"Never mind, I don't want to know," King quickly cut Bohn off as he started to answer his question then continued offering advice, "Maybe you can try to get one of his friends to help you. They can bring him somewhere so you can apologise. Properly."
"Yeah that might work!"
Bohn turned to rush off to try and put this plan into action, but King caught his arm to stop him.
"I mean it, Bohn. You have to apologise properly," King said, his voice stern.
Bohn nodded, a rare earnest look appearing on his face, then it disappeared to be replaced by his usual goofy grin as he waved and ran away, again.
King was relieved when he saw that Bohn was treating this seriously. He wanted both Bohn and Duen to be happy. Duen was Ram's best friend and King felt surprisingly protective of him, especially since Ram also felt this way about Duen.
"What was that?"
King turned to see Ram shaking his head as they both watched Bohn disappear.
"He needed some advice about him and Duen."
"Ah, yeah, I heard from Duen that they were fighting."
"Hopefully not for much longer," King murmured, taking Ram's hand, "Shall we head back to the table?"
"Let's not."
King looked at Ram in confusion. Was Ram mad about something? He opened his mouth to ask but snapped it shut when he saw the glint in Ram's eyes. It sent a shiver down King's spine and he allowed himself to be pulled down an alley and pushed up against a wall.
"Ram?" King whispered, his voice sounding husky and needy, even to his own ears.
Ram placed a hand on the wall next to King's head and leaned in, his eyes fixed on King's, watching the slow dilation of his boyfriend's pupils. Then, finally, he placed a tender kiss on King's soft lips. A shaky breath escaped King, inflaming Ram's desire. The next kiss was not so tender as Ram slid his tongue into King's mouth, releasing King's hand to wrap his arm around King's waist to press their bodies closer together. King's hands travelled up Ram's back, one stopping to grip his shoulder and the other twisting into his hair.
Feeling one sharp tug on his scalp, Ram pulled back to check on King. His boyfriend was dazed, sagging back against the wall, relying on Ram to hold him up. Seeing no resistance in those dark eyes, Ram went back to dominating King's mouth, tongue tangling with King's. The soft moans King released from the back of his throat sent Ram's heart racing. He was struggling to control himself, trying to remember that they were on campus and should stop making out soon.
The loud chattering of nearby students helped Ram get a hold of himself. He didn't want anyone else to see his King like this, so thoroughly lost to desire. Ram rested his forehead against King's, panting, his breath intermingling with King's quick exhales.
"Okay, baby?"
Ram watched as King's eyes fluttered open and a small smile appeared on King's face as he gave a quick nod.
"Let's head back to the table now?" Ram asked, a teasing tone in his voice and a smirk on his face.
"You suck," King laughed, giving Ram a playful slap on his chest.
"Yeah, I do."
Ram winked.
