When I opened my eyes the sky was the wrong shade. Strokes of pinks and oranges dusted the once blue skyline, the sun was now setting along the lake. I stirred, my hand gripping onto something solid and I nuzzled my head against the soft surface. The smoothness smelled like mint and I smiled, only half coherent. Asher's strawberry lips, his toned abs, his messy blonde hair, his hand clutching my waist. My eyes flew open fully, Asher's hand was around my waist. I pulled myself up from where my head was laid against his chest and my legs were curled over his while he held me lazily with one long arm.

"Dinner's in ten." His voice was raspy as he stretched his arms above his head, moving away from me. I shivered against the evening breeze.

"What time is it?" I asked now noticing the DJ music was gone and we were back docked on shore.

"Six-fifteen." He stood, and I averted my eyes from the large bulge in his swim trunks.

"Wow, that's the best I've slept in a long time." I admitted, cracking my neck side to side. "Am I sunburned?" I asked glancing down at my now pink and tan arms.

"A little." He smirked, shaking his head. "I'm sorry, I should've woken you up."

"No, it's fine. I mean I'm just sorry I fell asleep against you. I don't even remember you coming back."

"You were already out when I got back so I just sat with you and you curled up next to me, like it was the most natural thing." He licked his lips but his smile was timid.

"I'm sorry." I repeated, but he shook his head.

"It was nice.

We both stood in silence for a moment, the wind blowing my wavy blonde hair across his face. He slowly reached up and tucked the strand back behind my ear and I rested my cheek in his palm.

"I really want to kiss you right now." He admitted, sadness clouding the beauty in his eyes.

"I really want you to kiss me too." I admitted, slowly pushing his hand from my face. "But it's not fair to Kent, to keep doing this. To keep wanting you while I'm with him."

"So end things with him." Asher said simply.

"I can't." I shook my head and watched as Asher took a step back. "He got me this internship and has done so much for me. He loves me." I said hollowly.

"It's a relationship, not a partnership Sam." Asher snapped.

"I know, but he's a good man, and he doesn't deserve this." I insisted.

"By 'good man', you mean the clean cut guy with the good job and the nice car. The one your parents approve of and you'll be safe with forever." He studied me with disgust.

"What's so bad about all of that?!" I huffed crossing my arms in return.

"It's boring!" He shouted at the top of his lungs into the lake.

"Who's boring?" Theo asked, swaying a little from where he had materialized on the upper deck.

"Samantha fucking Collins, that's who's boring." Asher said, throwing his hands in the air and stormed past Theo. I felt my eyes well up with tears. How he could go from wanting to kiss me to calling me names in a split second?

"Ignore him." Theo urged, putting his arm around me to walk me down to the interior of the boat. "He's just mad because there are no girls left for him." He hiccuped once and I patted his side, hoping there were no girls left for Theo either.
