Previously: "Dad?"

"Hmm? What is it?" He slowly walked back to me.

"Where's mom?"

Looking petrified, he sat on my bed and spoke.

"I am tired. I will talk to you in the morning."

Worry filled me as I slept that night. And I was right to worry, I realized that when we talkes in the morning.

"What happened?" I asked.

"Well, she isn't feeling good for quiet sometime now. So let's wait 'til she comes back home healthy again, okay?"

"Can we go see her?" I looked at my dad and begged.

"We'll try."

"Why try?" I wondered aloud.

He made me go back to my room to change my clothes as he packed my some things for mom to use while at the hospital.

When we arrived, he made me sit down in the lobby while he ask the front desk if I could go in. I see him getting into an arguement with the receptionist until he gave up and walked back towards me. He smiled at me weakly as he explained to me why.

"Oh I see." I thought to myself. "That is why he got into an arguement."

"I'm sorry, sweetie. You'll just have to wait 'til mom comes home, okay?" He said.

I nodded in response. He went inside the patient's ward to give my mom her things before we took a cab home.

Ever since mom was hospitalized, my dad tend to overtime at his office and leave me to the Cortez', Third's family, care. We grew closer as day goes by as I felt more jealous of their family.

I feared he might find out about my childish feelings, I started to avoid him at school and lock myself in the house. He started to have larger group of friends where I don't really belong. I became a loner.

Few weeks has passed since mom has been hospitalized and is yet to come home. Dad's still too focused on his work, he rarely comes home.

One rainy night, my aunt whole lives the closest to our house, came to pick me up. I was rewatching my favorite cartoon Gnomeo & Juliet, when she banged at the door and made me dress as quickly as I can.

The time ticks slowly as I was waiting at the lobby. This time, my cousin came up to me and asked me a very obvious question.

"Do you wanna see your mom?" She asked me.

I stared at her long enough for her to take the hint. She dragged me towards the guard by the entrance of the patients ward.

"How old is she?" The guard asked, pertaining to me.

"7 but she really needs to go inside. This one time, please?" She begged the guard.

"I'm sorry, she's not allowed in."

"Please, she would leave immediately, I promise." She pleaded.

"Okay..." The guard hesitatingly looked at me then the hallway behind him. "Just make sure she will behave or else both of us would get in trouble. Understand?" He firmly said.

She led me through a dark corridor where a room is wide open, for the light to lighten up the corridor a bit. As we walk closer towards the door, I noticed my grandma and my mom's two eldest siblings side by side, crying?

"Maize, look at your mom." My grandma said to me between sobs when we approached them.

I wondered to myself: what could it be, why are they crying?

"Mom!" I whispered.
