I sat in my seat on a troop carrier plane, heading back from my mission, which had been an easy success. There had been no casualties and the enemy gave us no problems in their surrender. I leaned my head against the headrest and took a deep breath, letting myself relax so I could register all the other things I'd have to do once I got back.

"That mission went pretty well, didn't it?" Asked Smitty, the blue-eyed white-haired guy beside me.

I nodded, "Yeah, that was one of the easier missions. Well, I think so anyway."

"I've definitely been on harder." Smitty agreed.

"I have a ton of things to do once we land." I sighed.

Smitty nodded, "Me too. I have a wedding to go to tomorrow."

"Oh, really? Whose wedding?"

"My sister's."

"Well, congratulations!"

"Thanks. And what about you? What do you have going on?"

"Well, one of my friend's- my best friend's sister just had her initiation test..." I paused, thinking back on the memory, "...it didn't go too well. The evaluator, Stephen, was testing her, and they must have had some sort of a history because what went on in there was not something you want to see everyday. They were just beating each other down with hate."

Smitty nodded, "Oh, gotcha."

I frowned at the memory, when suddenly my phone rang. I creased my eyebrows and pulled my phone out of a pocket from behind my uniform's breastplate. I bit my lip when I saw the screen, there were seven missed calls from Fiona and fifty-seven messages. I opened my phone and called Fiona back, whatever she needed must have been urgent. The phone didn't even ring once before she picked up.

"H-harmon?" Fiona asked, frantically.

"Yeah?" I answered, the fear lacing her voice was unsettling.

"Sophia's gone!" She exclaimed.

"What do you mean by gone?"

"She's not home! I think she snuck out of the house, the window by her bed is open and I can't find her anywhere. No one in town has seen her- well, that I know of, and she left no clues to where she could have gone!" Fiona explained.

I sighed and was quiet for a moment.

"What should I do?" Fiona asked.

"I don't ... I don't know." I replied, feeling bad that I had no answers for her. "I'm on my way back from my mission, I can help you look for her then."

Fiona took a shaky breath, "Right..."

"Just stay calm and I'll call you back once we land."

"Okay."

I hung up the phone and dropped my hand to my side. Why do these things always happen to me?

"Bad news?" Smitty asked.

I nodded, "Yeah, Fiona's sister is missing."

Smitty raised an eyebrow, "Fiona?"

I put my phone back in my pocket, "My best friend."

"Oh, got it."

My phone began ringing again, I rolled my eyes and fished it out of my pocket. It was an unknown caller; I answered the phone.

"Hello?"

"Harmon! It's Zac! The base is under attack!"

I shook my head, "Wait, what do you mean?"
