It's been 3 months since P.O.T.A.T.O was shut down and my life has unfortunately returned to normal. I mean, other than the fact I don't have a job anymore. It sorta feels good that I don't have to worry about those kinds of things, but I'm going to need another job eventually. Sophia seems to have gotten over the fact that P.O.T.A.T.O doesn't exist anymore, she apparently really REALLY wanted to work there. But it seems like she has forgotten about it, otherwise, she's just found something to replace it. I will never forget about it...
The adventure I went on and all the experiences, they'll forever be a part of me. And I feel happy whenever I think about them, especially the part when I shot down a drone!
Even if it's been an entire three months, it feels like a week ago! A VERY small part of me wishes the adventure would have continued ... A VERY SMALL PART OF ME! Oh, btw It finally stopped snowing-
My phone began ringing, I slammed my diary shut and pulled my phone out. It was Harmon.
I accepted the call, "Hey! What's up?"
"To talk to a customer, please press one..."
I raised an eyebrow and pressed two.
"You pressed two didn't you?" He said in a less robotic voice
"You seriously think that fooled me?" I scoffed.
Harmon chuckled, "Okay, okay. I have something to tell you!"
Harmon sounded excited and it rubbed off on me, "Okay, what is it?" I asked.
"You know how P.O.T.A.T.O and Blood Knights shut down and Dawn was kind of disappointed about all the expensive equipment going to waste?"
"Yees?"
"Well, Dawn and Richard got their... whatever sorted out and they joined forces and created the Red Diamond!"
"The what?"
"Red Diamond! It's like the Blood Knights and P.O.T.A.T.O. combined, it's going to be great!"
"Seriously!? That's awesome!"
"Yeah, and I think they're supposed to get married next month. Anyway, I've already been recruited as an elite soldier. And I was wondering if you would like to apply so we could work together?"
"Uh, yeah! I would love to apply!"
"Great! I'll just send you the application form..."
A quiet 'ding' emitted from my phone as I received his notification at the top of the screen.
"The location of the base is on the application form. So fill out the form and then take it to the base. They'll make you go through a series of tests and see if they want to hire you, they pay pretty well. Anyway, let me know when you go for your test so I can be there."
"Yeah, no problem!"
"Okay, I would talk longer, but I have to study for a test so ... I have to go."
"Right, I'll check out the form. Have fun studying!"
"Heh, sure I will." Harmon replied sarcastically. "Talk to you later!"
As soon as Harmon hung up I opened up the email he sent me and tapped the attachment. It looked like a pretty standard form. I ran downstairs to the computer so that I could print it, but I stopped halfway down the stairway. What would I tell my parents?
____________
"Are you sure about this? You're kind of jumping into things here, is this what you want?" My Mom questioned me after I told my parents the news.
"Mom, this is a really good opportunity! Plus I'll be able to work with a bunch of people I know."
"We know," said my Dad, looking me in the eyes, "We're very proud and can't believe how successful you've become, you're leaving the house already!"
"I know... I-"
"Hey, sorry for butting in, but what's Fiona successful about?" Sophia interrupted as she entered the room. She sat down next to Mom.
"Well..." Dad smiled slightly, "why don't you ask your sister?"
She turned to me, her genuine interest made me feel even more proud than I already was. Though, I tried not to show it. "You remember P.O.T.A.T.O.?" I began.
"Yeah!? How could I forget! They shut down just when I was ready to apply too. So, what about them?"
"Well, that facility and The Blood Knights agency have come together as one giant society, and I've been invited to work there!" Sophia looked stunned, her jaw hung loose as she stared speechlessly back at me.
"D-does this mean?..."
I laughed, "Yes! If you're okay about working with a bunch of previous blood knights, you get a second chance!" Sophia squealed with excitement, jumping up and enveloping me in a tight hug. I giggled. "Just.. maybe we should wait until a meal when everybody's together to spread the news."
"No problem! The secret is safe with me! Oh, I can't believe this! It's been my lifelong dream to join P.O.T.A.T.O., who's to say this won't be even better!?" She exclaimed, her enthusiasm was contagious and I couldn't help but smile.
She let me free and turned to leave, racing out of the room. "I'm going to apply right now!" She called before I could say another word, and then she was gone.
"I guess we'll talk more about this later, I need to go tell her that you need to be sent an invitation personally." I said, walking out of the room after Sophia.
