(Reader Pov)

After saying our goodbyes and receiving advice from my family, we depart on a train. Finnick looks at me with a smirk forming from his lips. I wish I could smack his face but I resist. His face looks even more handsome up close, what am I saying, his face looks like a fish that looks good too...stop it. My thoughts keep running wild till he stops my thoughts and breaks the silence.

Finnick: Nice to meet you (y/n). It's a pleasure to be your competitor(slowly licks a sugar cube). Though I wouldn't mind forming an alliance with someone as pretty as you.

Reader: Why thank you Finnick, but I'd rather not. I'm not here to flirt, I'm here to survive the games. I'm ready for anything, I suppose. A little birdie said that she didn't want your perfect face to disappear from her mind but I'm afraid it will. I'm not here to play stupid flirting games, I'm here to claim victory and never have to deal with the stress of the reaping ever again.

Finnick with a serious voice: Don't expect me to play nice, I guess. I highly advise we form an alliance though.

Reader: What happens when we both are at the end...we would have to kill each other off.

Finnick:Then we break the alliance once we get to the final four, that way we we have a better chance of not having to kill each other. But if we do end up as the last two then we'll have a final showdown.

Then all of a sudden an older woman appears. She happily greets us and introduces herself. We both realize it's Mags, the only victor of district four so far. She then shares advice to the both of us and leaves it out in the open. Soon she leaves us alone and tells us to prepare for a feast and our costume designer.

After a long time the train stops and here we are... The Capital of Panem. It's tall buildings look over us. The people wear a lot of makeup, accessories, and designer clothes. This must be what it feels to be the absolute top of wealth, health, and stealth.

Finnick and I settle down in the really nice penthouse or hotel rooms. I take a nice refreshing shower but it took me about forty five minutes figuring out how to do it. The shower had marble walls, a glass door, another spout just to wash the feet, warm and cold settings, buttons for how much water you want to come out, a waterproof tv, and a dispenser for all your wash necessities. That's rich, classy life right there.

When I finally come out, Finnick is sitting at the dining table, continuously tying and untying knots. I can tell he is stressed. His face is pale and holds a serious expression. I can tell he already took a shower by his wet looking hair.

Before I can say anything to him, the designer comes and asks to take our measurements. I stand there awkwardly and the designer asks me about my life and tells me not to be stressed. She plans to have my outfit as a dress that resembles the ocean. It will have all different shades of blues and greens. She then says Finnick will have an outfit that is a bit different. He will have a loose shirt and brown pants with a knotted belt, to resemble a fisherman.

I'm not much of a fashion person since I grew up with two older brothers. My second oldest brother warned me to stay hidden. An advantage that I have is swimming and holding my breath for up to ten to fifteen min. So as you can see, I'm not your normal girl.

After all the measurements are taken for the both of us, we have a feast. Mags come in and prepare us for our interviews and gives us a lot of advice. I know Finnick won't have a problem. Though I on the other hand might.

I get dressed and we head to the chariot.  I put the pin on my dress that my friend gave me. It is an anchor. Just like the anchor my life will slowly sink away, if I'm not careful.

We ride the chariot and are presented in front of everyone. Then I'm given the nickname "The girl at bay."I heard it was because it reminded people of the beautiful bay we have in district four. But I think of it as something else.

I'm not gonna lie I'm so nervous since I tend to start laughing uncomfortably when reality checks in that I'm in front of an audience.

Soon the interviews are staring. My hand shakes a little then to my surprise, Finnick grabs and squeezes it.

I decide to let my funny personality out that I usually keep hidden. To my surprise everyone loved it. Finnick even stared at me until I look back at him annoyed.

He goes on with his pretty boy attitude that I swear on my fishing net, made all the ladies swoon. It seems like everyone likes him now with that sailor outfit he's in.

After all that Mags starts to train the both of us separately. I train in knot tying and holding my breath. I also grain in hand to hand combat with a person with a weapon. I also train with obstacle courses to keep my stamina and endurance longer.

I have no idea what Finnick training regimen is but I'm more concerned on the test to get our rankings. I decide to hold my breath for fifteen minutes in a water tank while untying a knot that is supposed to give me a key which should unlock the tank. I come out dripping wet and I awkwardly walk out. When Finnick finishes, we have a feast and then sit by the tv screen.

Now all there's left to see is the score. This will decide who's the predator and who's the prey. But you never know what to expect till your fighting for your life in that arena. I've watched it before in tv and I know a lot of strategies. Then the scores come out. I score decently with a 7.5 and Finnick with a ten. Now he has a target on his back. Do I choose the truth, in which I must fend for myself since there can only be one victor or do I choose Odair who might be the one to beat but will ensure my safety for most of the game?
