This story was inspired by The Nutcracker by E.T.A. Haufmann. As that story was set in Germany I set my own story there and that had a lot of influence on the names of the characters. I like to meanings to the names I pick so here is a glossary of name meanings as well as some meanings for some of the German words I used in the story.
