Paul's POV:||
"With a love like that you know you should be glad, with a love like that you know you shoouuld be glaadd! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!" We finished the final song at our Christmas/ New Years party for our friends. I looked up into the small crowd of our friends all dancing or drinking. Right up front was Syd perched uncomfortably on Jason, her boyfriend's, lap with him drunkenly kissing her neck and it didn't look like much fun for her. I'm surprised they're still going out to be honest, I feel George pat me on the shoulder as if to guide me off stage and in no time we joined Syd and Jason on the couch.
John's POV:||
"Jason you're drunk as hell, I think it's time for you to go home" Syd said looking down at him from her boyfriends knee.
"No way love.. I'm... I'm having a good time" He slurred, pathetically in my opinion. I never liked that Jason. There's something odd about him, he's not good enough for her, she deserves so much better.
"Alright another half an hour then I'm taking you home" she said sternly clearly getting annoyed with her drunk boyfriend.
"Ok" he sighed heavily
Syd got off of his knee and went to talk to some of her other friends meanwhile Jason sat in a drunken splendour until he realised where his girlfriend went.
"Sydney!" He called, hollering at her like she was a dog.
"What Jason?" She answered "Why'd you leave?" "Because I wanted to go talk to some people who can stand up straight for two minutes" she answered bluntly. He dimly nodded his head as "Love me tender" by Elvis came on the radio.
"Ooh! I love this song! Dance with me" she said tugging at her boyfriends arm.
"NO I'm not going to dance, especially not to this song" he protested like a child.
"Yeah and you probably couldn't even find your feet ye swine" I muttered but Syd must've heard me because she laughed. I stood up "Come on then love" I said extended my hand out to her.
"What?" She asked
"Well do you wanna dance or not?" I said, taking her hand.
I looked back over at Jason and a look of anger had spread across his face when he realised what was going on but when he tried to get up he couldn't find his feet, as I predicted.
Syd's POV :||
I rested my hand on John's shoulder as he put his hand on my waist, casually swaying to the music.
"Well he's a wanker isn't he?" John said as he leaned into my ear
"Oh come on John you just haven't gotten to know him" I said trying to stick up for my boyfriend
"Yeah because whenever I try he's either drunk or talking to someone else" he retorted and I had to admit he had a point.
"He's no good for you Syd," he said, holding me tighter "You're not the same when he's around y'know"
"And how am I different exactly?"
"You're not you, you're more timid around him" he said in an almost mocking tone
"Am not!"
"Are too, and it drives me mad to see you so held back by him" he looked into my eyes knowingly and I couldn't break the eye contact.
"That may be but I love him John" I said finally
"I know you do but does he love you too" said John a sudden look of loneliness on his face. He was probably still getting over his break up with Cynthia just over a month ago.
"... Yes" I answered
"Oh yeah? When was the last time he told you." John said with a hint of anger in his voice. I honestly couldn't remember the last time he told me he loved me.
"Thanks for dancing with me John" I said as the song ended and I awkwardly left his company.
Johns POV:||
I walked over to where George was in the kitchen, frustrated. I'd known Syd her whole life and she still valued him over me.
"Hi John" said George "Havin' fun?"
I poured myself a glass of whiskey from the fridge and didn't answer.
"Uh oh, that's the sad whiskey... Well what happened?" He asked
"Nothing happened Geo, can't I just drink my whiskey in peace no questions asked!" I said realising I sounded a bit hostile.
"I'll leave you two alone then" George said gesturing towards my whiskey. He strolled out of the room, and I finally had some time to think.
