John's POV: ||

As our time off came to an end, we took it easy. Paul and I had knuckled down and knocked out a few good tunes. He was obsessed with perfecting them before we went into the studio, true to his nature. So he was sitting down at the piano working out the kinks, while I lounged, just thinking, noticing things that I haven't noticed before. Like that scratch in the wallpaper just to the left of the television. The main thing I noticed is how not a lot of the furniture matches. Not that it mattered. We got most of it cheap, as long as its comfortable that's what really matters. Syd handled most of that....I want to be with her. Just thinking about her reminds me. So, so much I want to be with her. But I'm not sure if she would be comfortable with the idea. When she was very young her mother got into a car accident, a fatal car accident. Her dad's locked up for a bunch of things. So, Paul's family basically adopted her, and well, I came into the picture in kindergarten I guess.

"John!" Paul piped up from the piano, bringing me out of my reverie.

"What?" I grunted, not wanting to pay attention.

"I've been calling you, y'sod" He snickered, looking at me over his shoulder.

"Well now you've got me so wha' d'ya want?" I asked, sitting up. He played me a fill he was worried about adding in at the end of an empty bar. I told him it was fine, not really paying attention.

"Okay... okay bye" Syd said, ending her phone call.

"How many suitors did you turn down now Sydney?" Paul teased, grinning over at her.

"It was just Mary" She sighed with a little smile, slumping down into my chair.

"Mary's just the messenger see, she has to break the news to the hundreds of boys lined up at the door" I said, standing up off the lounge.

"Oh shut up." she said, kicking one of her legs over the other.

"Get up" I said, looming over her.

"Come on! You only want to sit here now because I'm sitting here" She whined.

"Not true, that's my chair, I paid for it. Your arse has no licence to be sitting there" I rambled and she stood up with a frustrated sigh.

"How do I get a licence?" She asked, moving to the lounge where I was, I sunk into my armchair comfortably and sighed happily.

"You get on my good side" I smiled, playing with my sleeve.

"I'm not on your good side?" She cocked an eyebrow.

"I got into a fist fight because of you" I chuckled with a smug smirk. She blushed and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "I'm only joking love" I smiled sincerely as I leant back into my chair, kicking my feet up.

"Well, she can't turn them all down, she'll get herself a date for the ball" Paul chuckled.

"You're right there Paul" I smirked, ganging up on her

"You guys" She blushed and grabbed a magazine from the coffee table, trying hard to ignore our heckling.
