Paul's POV:||
We got into work and started to play some of the songs we'd written over the break for George. He was adding his little touches while Brian observed.
"'This Boy', whose is that?" Asked Brian
"John's" said George. That's when John returned from the bathroom.
"What about me?" He asked almost challengingly.
"'This boy', is that your song?" Brian repeated, his eyebrows raised.
"Paul helped" He added nonchalantly, trying to shoulder off some of the credit.
"We were thinking a three way harmony, actually." I butted in.
"Can I hear it?" George asked. Brian nodded in agreement.
"Well we haven't got the harmony down yet-"
"That's alright, just sing what you've got so far" George interrupted, not letting me continue rambling.
So we played the song.
"And who is that about?" George said with a smirk.
"Ah shut up" John said, a slight guilty blush creeping up on his face.
"Oh boys, I nearly forgot, you are going to the ball tonight aren't you?" Said Brian in an almost knowing tone. I'd forgotten the ball was on tonight. Almost all the young people in Liverpool were going to be there, quite the party if there ever was one.
"Yeah, 'course" said John dismissively.
"Well if you lot want to play there tonight I can arrange that." Said Brian "Maybe some of the Please Please Me stuff to get ready for America." I looked over at the lads to see what they thought.
"Well?" I asked
"Yeah why not" Ringo said with a shrug.
"We better get a set list sorted then" said John, already moving to get a jump on it.
John's POV:|| We finished work at 5 and the ball was at 7. Paul and I walked into the house, both jogging up the stairs immediately to get ready, dressed in sharp new suits. I knocked on Syd's bedroom door.
"Hello?" I asked before opening it, she was lying on her bed reading.
"What are you doing? Why aren't you dressed?" I asked exasperatedly.
"Dressed for what?" She said unenthusiastically, not looking up from her book.
"Dressed for the ball!" I said disbelievingly as I went over to her wardrobe to find a dress for her to wear.
"Do you mind?" She chuckled as she came over next to me. I held out an ugly bright pink dress and laughed, she shook her head and put it back. "Besides, I'm not going" she said walking away.
"Why?" I whined as I grabbed her arm.
"Because I was supposed to go with Jason and I'm not going alone." She said defiantly.
"I'm going alone, we can go alone together" I said.
"I don't know" she said slowly.
"Pllleeease?" I pleaded (rather annoyingly) as I got on my knees and begged.
"Fine! I'll go!" She said defeatedly as I stood up.
"Good" I grabbed a nice black dress from her wardrobe.
"Wear this" I said, tossing it at her.
"What a gentlemen" she snickered.
"Fine" I said grabbing a pair of black heels from the wardrobe "Here my lady" I said with a very exaggerated posh accent as I kneeled down, slipping them onto her feet.
"Much better" she sighed.
"Yeah, yeah" I mumbled as I walked out. "You know you love me" she called as I walked out.
"You have no idea" I mumbled when she was out of earshot, frustrated more than I'd care to admit.
