The doctors got Izuku stable, his family rushing to his side. Izuku was hooked up to machines to monitor his heart rate, and to keep him alive. Inko melted onto the floor sobbing seeing Izuku's state. His legs were cut from the coral, he had broken ribs, a punctured lung, and a severe concussion. His brother Kota held his mother close. They were all dumbfounded at what happened.

Izuku was normally seemingly invincible, whenever he got hurt he always seemed to bounce back quickly. They couldn't bare to see him in this state. Soon days rolled into weeks, and weeks rolled into months. Izuku's state didn't get better for the longest time.

It had been 6 months since his accident. Eri sat beside Izuku caressing his cheek. Inko sniffed her hands shaking as she pet Izuku's hand. Her eyes were blood shot from crying so much. Everyone was exhausted and the doctors were about to deem Izuku dead.

"DAD! DAD PLEASE COME BACK! I NEED YOU!! DADDY! "8 year old Izuku pleaded running after the car as dust flowed through the air.

Izuku's hand twitched as he shifted, everyone looking to see if he as waking up. His chest caved in as he took a deep breath. Inko panicked "GET THE DOCTOR!! GET THE DOCTOR!! " She screamed as Kota ran out of the room.

"DADDY!!! DADDY COME BACK!!"Izuku pleaded, as he chased after the car sobbing. He could still hear Inko calling out to his dad.

Izuku's mind shifted as he felt like he was in water, hearing his name being called. Doctors rush in pulling the family back as they began to jumpstart Izuku's heart "1...2...3..CLEAR!" The doctor pressed the machine against Izuku's chest. Izuku jolted at the impact his mind shifting.

"DAMMIT KID! FIGHT!! FIGHT TO BREATHE!"The doctor shouted repeating, the voltage higher this time. Izuku jolted as his chest caved in. His face turning pale from the lack of oxygen. Doctors struggled to get him stable as he drifted further.

Izuku could hear people yelling for him to breath. Inko sobbed falling to the floor. She couldn't bare it if she lost her son. Izuku's heart beat echoed through his ears, flashes of doctors and his family going through his mind. The doctor used the machine one last time as Izuku gasped for air at the impact.

Izuku's heartbeat quickened as he opened his eyes a little. Doctors put an oxygen mask on him, then rushed him to ICU. Hours past as the family was in the waiting room. Inko couldn't bare if anything happened to her son. Eri and Kota rushed to sit by their mother's side. A friend of Izuku's ran in the hospital praying Izuku was alright. "Oh holy surfing gods, please grant my final wish"Denki joked trying to lighten the mood.

Eri laughed as Kota stood up "Are you gonna joke around at a time like this!?" Denki huffed "Izuku loved jokes, he wouldn't want us pouting like this now would he?" Inko looked at him "Don't speak as if he is gone, I know he's still there. Denki I know you have a hard time with serious. But please, don't say he loved, or anything past tense about Izuku!" Denki went silent, handing Inko Izuku's shark tooth necklace.

Inko held it close tears rolling down her cheek. "I dug through alot of coral to find it"Denki whispered. Kota nodded "That explains your hands, they are all torn up." Denki nodded "Yep, I even caught a gnarly wave or two!"He laughed.

"Dad? It hurts!"6 year old Izuku said as he wheezed from asthma. The male rubbed Izuku's chest softly humming, his dark hair blowing in the wind. "You close your eyes, and listen. When life pushes you to the ground, and it feels like there's nothing left to hold on too. Just lean your head back, and take a deep breathe. Life is gonna hurt son, it always will. When you have something special, you hold on to it. When it gets painful just remind yourself of that special thing and continue riding the waves."

Izuku's eyes fluttered opened as his breathing stabled, the doctors and nurses didn't notice. Izuku moved his hand slowly in a massive amount of pain. A nurse looked over as Izuku struggled trying to take the oxygen mask off. She ran over "shh, it's alright! It's alright. We'll bring your mama and family in here just breathe".

"Breathe huh? What a peculiar word for something that is often hard to find or so painful." 8 year old Izuku echoed staring at a grave.

Izuku snapped out of it as she rushed to his side, his mind was clouded and scattered. He tried to figure out what to do or say but his mind wouldn't function. Days rolled into weeks, and Izuku had three surgeries on his legs. Weeks rolled into months and soon it had been a whole year he was stuck in the hospital. Time seemed frozen for Izuku and he wasn't ready for an adjustment. He only wanted to surf, so he found the courage to ask the doctor when he could.

The doctor walked in seeing Izuku sitting up "Hello Mr. Midoriya! I am Dr. Meyers. How are you this lovely day?" Izuku smiled "Just fine. I was wondering when I will be able to go home, and when I'll be able to surf again. I don't need the numbing pills anymore I'm sure I can handle the pain." The doctor looked at him perplexed "What numbing pills?" Izuku thought for a minute then stared at his legs "Gee, I don't know. Maybe the ones making my legs numb." He replied getting agitated.

Inko pet his head "Shh honey please calm down." The doctor sighed putting Izuku's xrays on a screen for him to see. Izuku was dumbfounded to see his spine fractured. "As you can see here these were taken in April about 6 months ago. These are the xrays now. The pipes we placed in your spine may support your back too keep you alive, but, it's not healed enough for you to even walk let alone surf. "Dr. Meyers sighed.

Izuku was horrified at what the doctor told him, his fist tightening. "T-There has to be a mistake! Please there must be some way to fix my spine!" Izuku pleaded. Dr. Meyer's shifted trying to think of a solution. He sighed long as he saw Inko staring at him frantically. Dr. Meyer's shook his head "I'm really sorry, but your spine was badly fractured. You're lucky to be alive at all. I'm sorry to be the one to say you can never surf again, but someone has too. "

Izuku's world practically shattered, he loved surfing. It was all he had to live for. He begged hoping that it was a prank but deep down he knew it wasn't. He knew that things would never be the same.
