As the semester progressed, you and Chenle grew closer and the both of you acted like the small incident regarding Chenle's proposal never happened, until both you forgot that it even happened at all. Meanwhile, the weather got hotter as summer made its way in. It got so hot, in fact, that you and Chenle found yourselves lying on the floor in direct target of two cooling fans during lunchtime, groaning about the heat but still enjoying each other's company nevertheless.
"I think," you begin, turning your head to face Chenle's seemingly lifeless body, "I could just melt. Right here."
Chenle let out a laugh, turning his own body to face yours too. "I don't think I'm ever going to have enough energy to get up from the floor," he replied, shutting his eyes briefly. You couldn't help but smile at the view: Chenle lying right beside you, eyes shut but still wearing that classic little smile of his. You could admit he's pretty cute, but you kept having to remind yourself you won't think anything more than that – it would all probably end in heartbreak anyway, and that is something you couldn't bare to go through again.
Suddenly, Chenle's eyes popped open again, lighting up his face as he thought of a new idea.
"Why don't we go get some ice cream after school? It'll cool us down, I think we both need it. Do you wanna?"
"Yeah," you laughed. "Why not?"
"Awesome," he grinned. "There's a place I know that's just a short walk from here. They have the best ice cream ever." Chenle began to pretend he was frothing at the thought of ice cream, holding his tummy tight and scrunching his eyes up causing you to giggle again at him. He opened his eyes again and laughed with you, and before you knew it the bell started to ring to signal the next class.

"You ready for the best cone of your life?" Chenle said, leaning against the wall next to your locker while you walked up to it still holding all your books.
"The best cone of my life, you say?" Chenle nodded giddily in reply.
"It'll be so good, you won't ever want to have ice cream from anywhere else, ever again."
"I don't know," you shook your head teasingly. "I've had some pretty good ice cream before."
You both snickered again as you pulled your bag over your shoulder and headed towards the exit. Chenle skipped a couple steps ahead of you as you approached the door, opening it for you and gesturing for you to go through.
"After you," he bowed playfully. You chuckled and shook your head, but happily obliged letting yourself through the doorframe in front of Chenle. After you made your way through and kept walking, Chenle walked himself through as well and closed the door behind him, skipping forward a few steps again to catch up to you.
"How was chem?" He asked, walking forward but still facing you.
"Boring as usual," you replied, looking down to the ground in front of you. You lifted your head to see Chenle staring right at you. "You're going to trip over if you don't look where you're going, you know," you warned.
"Nah," he shook his head. "I can multitas-" before he could finish, Chenle tripped over a small pot hole in the sidewalk and stumbled forward, yet somehow saved himself from falling right to the ground. You burst out laughing, his face going red with embarrassment.
