Nash's P.O.V.
When I woke up, I walked out of my room. I couldn't help but grin like an idiot. I had the best dream of my life. I just had to tell Jess about it.
I picked up my phone and texted her.
"Come over? I need to tell you something."
Throwing my phone back on the bed, I went to the kitchen to grab some breakfast. Once I was finished, I checked on Skylynn and Hayes. They were both still asleep so I went back upstairs to my room.
I sat on my bed and checked my phone. I still hadn't gotten a text back from Jess. Maybe she was still asleep.
I decided to watch a movie while I waited.
As I watched the movie, my phone buzzed. I picked it up and saw that I had a text from Jess.
"Sorry, I was taking a shower. But I'll be over in about ten minutes. Is everything okay?"
I smiled at the thought of her coming over again. She just made my day so much better.
"That'll be great. And yes, everything is fine."
She didn't text me back after that. I was assuming she was making her way here.
I heard a quiet knock on the door and I walked down the stairs to open it. She stood there and looked at me with a smile.
"Hey," she said, wrapping her arms around my waist. She smelled so beautiful. She looked beautiful. She is beautiful.
I intertwined my fingers with her and pulled her into the house. I quietly shut the door, not wanting to wake anyone in the house.
We ran up the stairs and to my room. I shut the door behind us. When we sat on the bed she looked at me.
"What's up?" She asked.
"So I had this dream, and it was perfect. It wasn't too much. It was just about me and you. Spending our lives together. I think you just have that effect on me. I fell asleep thinking about you, and woke up from a wonderful dream," I said.
A smile spread across her face, and it quickly disappeared. She looked away and closed her eyes. I had a bad feeling about what she was thinking.
"Nash," she said softly, "that is beautiful. That's one of the sweetest things anyone has ever told me."
She didn't sound happy. I mean, she did, but it wasn't like normal. Her smile wasn't as bright as it always is. Her eyes weren't glistening. I looked at her confused.
"Are you okay?" I said with a curious look on my face.
She looked at me. I could see right to her, she didn't want to be here. I've seen that look so many times before in so many different people.
"I have to go," she said quickly.
She stood up and I sat there wondering why. She hugged me from where she was standing. She released her grasp and turned to the door.
When I heard the door shut, I looked out the window. She was walking down the street quickly, while wiping tears from her eyes. It was killing me; I don't even know why she was crying.
And in that moment, I broke. She passed across the street too quick, and it all happened so fast. Within a blink of an eye she was laying on the ground, bleeding.
I ran down the stairs yelling for my mom to wake up. I sprinted out the door and went as fast as I could toward her way. I looked down at her and she was unconscious.
I looked up and saw the driver of the truck on the phone. He was explaining to what I thought was the police, what had happened.
I heard my mom coming down the street quickly. She looked down at Jess and covered her mouth.
"Will she be okay?" My mom asked scared.
"I don't know. We have to take her to the hospital," I looked up at my mom.
The truck-driver assured me that an ambulance was already on it's way.
We sat there in silence until the ambulance arrived, my hand never leaving Jess's. They picked her up and put her in the back. My mom and I drove right behind them all the way to the hospital.
When we got to our destination, they made us stay in the waiting room. I was nervous the entire time. I know I have only known Jess for such a short amount of time, but she was so important to me. I fought back tears, but one slipped from my eye. I knew this was real, what I felt for Jess. I had never cried over any girl before. But she was different.
The doctor finally came around the corner.
"For Jess Landers," he called out.
My mom and I walked up to him curiously. I looked him in the eyes. I have to know what's up, and if it's bad, it will break me.
"Jess lost a lot of blood. It seems like when the semi hit her, she was scratched on her arms deeply, and she lost blood there. To add to that, she had much internal bleeding," he started.
I began to know where he was going with this. I was just sitting there thinking.
"Please don't say we lost her. Please."
He looked up at me and my mom, laying the papers back on the clipboard.
"We did all we could, but she just wasn't strong enough. I'm sorry," he told me.
That's when my heart broke. The very last string that was holding the two sides of my heart together, snapped. It couldn't take anymore.
I looked at my mom who had a tear in her eye. My family barely knew her, but we all enjoyed her so much.
My mom turned and pulled me into a tight hug. She whispered things in my ear, but they were all blocked out by my thoughts. They were filled with the very few memories I had with Jess.
From first meeting her, texts, the walk, the kiss. Everything. And I can never make more memories with her again. I didn't know what I would do, but it's not going to be easy.
How am I supposed to get along without the only one who made me happy?

Nash's P.O.V.
I snapped up from my bed. I was sweating and I could barely breathe. A tear was in my eye, and I looked at the clock. 1:27 a.m.
I grabbed my phone and tried to call Jess. She didn't answer and then it all began to feel real. I wanted to scream. I just wanted her here.
I finally got a text and my heart skipped a beat when I saw Jess's name pop up on my screen.
"Babe, why are you calling me so early?"
I sat there, and my breathing started to cool down. I was beginning to collect everything and understand what was happening. I started typing.
"I just wanted to make sure that you were okay."
I sent the text and slowly lowered back to my bed. She's okay. It wasn't real. It was all just a dream.
