After some time wandering aimlessly through the dense woodland it begins to thin out more and more allowing more freedom of movement he picks up pace running through the forest, a smile creeping up onto his face.
leaping over fallen trees bushes, tall grass making way for his quick moving feet. heart pounding hammering his chest as the world rushes past him in a blur of motion, the wind whipping through his hair friend running beside him hearing little chirps in the trees. this is freedom, what had been his life before was nothing compared to the sheer exhilaration running gave him, the sense of wonder caused by the light flittering through the leaves over head, a world like this is something he would treasure seeing for the rest of his life.
Slowing down to a stop as the burning in his chest and legs was getting extreme, falling to his knees as a sheer sense of exhaustion over took him. His body wasn't used to such extended physical movement, his friend calmly as always observing him. He laid down trying to take deep breaths despite the pain in his chest, looking up noticing that the canopy of leaves was noticeably less dense that the clearing he had slept the previous night allowing his to peer through at the few birds perched up among the topmost branches.
Sighing content with the world around him smiling softly as the feeling of the sun on his skin like a warm blanket, the wind rustling his hair calmly bringing the sweet scent of flowers of all sorts. The sweet little peeps from high in the trees making music that he would remember forever.
Getting up slowly stretch as he goes felling his back and shoulders loosen up, thankful that his chest doesn't hurt anymore. Climbing up to his feet seeing that the sky had changed colour to a warm orange fading to a calming yellow that peeked through the trees lighting up the forest in a magical glow of a warm orange.
Walking on through what appeared to be endless trees, a light breeze weaving through the branches above his head the calming music of birds lifting his heart into joy once again. The day was amazing, the steady breeze bringing smells of flowers from far in the distance to add fragrance to the colourful beauty of the woods.
Taking a deep breath picking up the pace enjoying the feeling of the wind through his hair and grass beneath his feet. Going faster and faster watching the trees form a blur as he passed them. The wind beneath him stretching his arms wide seeing a little ledge he jumps hoping the wind will carry him to new a greater destinations.
Just after taking the leap he realized the mistake as the ground ended after the ledge dropping to a river down below. The sensation of falling sent a weird sensation through his body before the cold water surrounded his body upon impact with the river that is now surrounding him. Pushing off of the bottom breaking the surface suddenly pulling himself to the edge coughing a little laying down on the bank taking deep breaths. He closed his eyes taking the time to catch his breath and just listening to the sounds around him, the light sounds of birds chirping happily and the rustling of small animals through the undergrowth.
Opening my eyes suddenly at the snap of a branch close to me, looking up he could see a light gray muzzle poking through the leaves of a larger bush. Sitting up, slowly climbing to his feet to move away from the animal as not to startle or face a possible confrontation from the animal. Moving slowly away before the animal fully stepped through and from memory it seemed to be a younger wolf, it paused and looked at me. Quickly averting my eyes and holding my breath cautiously fearing the possibility of angering the wolf. Shivering a little at the feeling of its wet nose sniffing through his soaking wet hair now aware of how cold his body feels. Lifting his hand slowly not making eye contact with the wolf, he feels the cold nose sniffing intently at his open palm. Releasing the breath he didn't know he was holding and hoping that any possible danger had passed. Running a hand softly through its fur feeling the warmth and thickness of it, as this continues a low rumbling sound comes from the wolf it at tailwags Softly. Smiling at the animals apparent calmness and enjoying it gentle comforting presence he smiles.
Danger seemed to have been avoided till the sound of rolling thunder reached his ears sending a shiver down his spine, the temperature dropping noticeably before the wolf turns and runs off into the undergrowth. Hearing rain in the distance he climbs to his feet as he has to find his friend before the storm fully sets in, looking up at the ridge above his head not seeing them there.
Panic sets in as he jogs beside the water that has taken a frightening pace over the smooth stones at the bottom. Feeling the storm building in the air around him, the wind rushing through the trees pushing and his body either direction as a torrent sets upon the world. Gasping at the sudden freezing drops of water hitting his body leaving a slight stinging sensation behind, and in there wake the wind wracking a shiver through his body as he gets even colder. Keeping close to the water to avoid losing his way.
Looking up at the sky for a second in time to see a flash of lightning lighting up the sky with a brilliant white light as a loud boom fills his ears, gritting his teeth a little as his ears ring.
Looking down at the water before taking a breath as another bolt of lightning rips through the air, strong enough that he could feel the vibrations around his body. Moving to a tree near by before sitting down on the damp ground and leaning into the tree. Feeling the rough bark on my back is a slight uncomfortable sensation, as it feels like something small is crawling on my back. Sighing heavily as he waits out the storm raging overhead, ever nervous about the thunder that causes the sky to light up as it it was day.
