Once you have found a topic/chat that you want to join. All you have to do is read the first posts to understand what it is about and comment.
Any replies to you and you will get a notification that will tell you that someone has replied. Now at the bottom of any topic you will see this:

The 'share' option is pretty simple its just how you share a link to that topic with others on facebook, twitter, or e-mail.
Bookmark is how you save the topic to your bookmarks. Now if later on you don't want it in your bookmarks just go on the topic page, scroll down til you see the options in the picture above and select 'clear bookmarks'.
Flag - You can flag a topic using this option and the below options will appear:
It's InappropriateThis topic contains content that a reasonable person would consider offensive, abusive, or a violation of .
It's Spam This topic is an advertisement. It is not useful or relevant to this site, but promotional in nature.
Something Else This topic requires general staff attention based on the, or for another reason not listed above.
Now the little option with the bell is how you watch a topic. If you click on that these options will appear:

Underneath each choice is an explanation as to what that means.
How to reply using quotes, emojis, and bold text etc
In orange you also have 'Reply', this is how you reply to messages (I know you would have never guessed that) but I'm going to talk through how you quote someone, add emojis, and use Italics etc.
So when you click 'Reply' you will see this:

Now Replying is simple, just type in the left box, the right box is a preview of how your reply will look.
To add Bold writing click the B. Write in the middle of the ** symbols, eg **Text Here**
To add italics click I. Now write in between the two *, *Text here*
To do both click on both options and write in the middle of the *** symbols, eg ***Text Here***
To quote someone highlight the text you want (as if you are going to copy and paste) and click the "Quote option at the top.
When you have written your reply click 'Reply' in the bottom left-hand corner in orange.
To like someones post you click on the heart in the bottom left corner of their comment. You also have options to flag their comment, bookmark it, or share it.
