New to Wattpad, wondering how to edit your profile, get followers, and reads?
In this book I will start off with the basics: editing your profile and navigating wattpads clubs and forums. Then I will share the tips and tricks on how to get reads and...
Now there is no trick to getting readers but I do have some advice which will help you get readers and comments.
Comments
1.) Book Clubs
In the forum category 'story services' there is the 'book club' topic. These are the topic where people share their book clubs. All book clubs have their own rules.
Usually, you will be paired with one other author and you read and comment on each others books for a certain number of chapters. Then the next month/week you're paired with someone else.
Now if you are struggling on the forums you can just search stories for books clubs as well.
2.) Authors note
Add an authors note at the end of your chapter asking people to please comment or vote on your chapter. If someone is really interested in your story they might just keep reading and forget to vote/comment. Just give them a gentle reminder.
Do not put authors notes at the top, always put them at the bottom.
Readers
1.) Now, I told you earlier how to follow people who are likely to follow you back but these arent the only people you should follow.
You want to follow people who read books in the same genre that you are writing. Why?
Well, because if these people follow you back and you send a message to all your follower about your book it in the genre they like so they're more likely to actually read it. Now you're probably wondering how you find people who like the genre your writing in and thinking its going to be a lot of hassle.
Actually no it's not. You can find a lot of them in one place.
Search Wattpad in the search bar and go to Wattpads official profile. This is what Wattpad official profile looks like now:

The tick next to Wattpad's user name tells you they are verified. If you click 'following' which is next to 'conversations' you will find that they follow all the other official Wattpad accounts such as 'Romance', 'Wattpad Fantasy', 'Action', etc. Theres an official Wattpad account for almost every genre.
The people following those accounts will almost definitely like the genre the account is for.
2.) Here's another tip, be an active Wattpadder.
It really is that simple.
If you are active in Wattpad forums, commenting/ voting on other books people will notice you. If you keep to yourself then sorry but you're a Wattpad ghost.
Now, this doesn't mean you comment on peoples stories saying 'Read my book! Read my book!'. Thats just going to annoy the writer and their readers.
- If you write a comment on someones story that some finds funny or agree with they might check out your profile and look at what you write.
- Joining groups for 'writers over 30', 'LGBTQ safe space', 'romance writers' etc is a way to talk to people who have similar interest. You can get advice but also you're interacting with others and usually the first 'reader' you get is someone you have made friends with on Wattpad.
- Joining in with forum topics like 'Rate my summary', 'Guess what the story is about from the title', and others clubs is a good way not only to get attention for your book. If someone likes your cover or blurb etc in one of the topics they may try to find your story later.
