Chapter 1

Drew Mitchell and Iris West were at Jitters, Iris was working her usual morning shift and Drew was studying for final exams.

Drew sighed, she was in her last year of medical school. She bit her pen and flipped what must have been the 600th page of her textbook and scribbled down notes.

The next question was about comatose patients. That made Drew think about one of her best friends Barry Allen, who was currently laying on a hospital bed at star labs ... in a coma.

Then Iris set a coffee down next to Drew's books. "Oh, sorry Iris I didn't bring money..." Drew said going back to her exam review.

Iris shook her head "Drew, this is on the house, by the way you look right now, you need it. Bad."

Drew looked at Iris and grabbed the coffee cup, taking a sip of it and going back to work. Iris just shook her head and laughed.

Then Drew felt a tap on her shoulder and she turned around to see who it was.

It was Barry... wait. BARRY!

Drew threw herself at Barry attacking him with a hug. She buried her face in his shoulder and wrapped her legs around his waist.

"Barry! You're awake! Why didn't star labs call us..." Drew said happily, and a bit confused.

Barry laughed "I just woke up." He explained to Drew.

"Are you sure you should be on your feet?" Drew asked concerned, and Barry shrugged "Drew... I'm-I'm okay."

"I watched you die Barry, first when you were hit by lightning, then at the hospital you kept dying, your heart kept stopping.

He took my hand and put it against his chest "It's still beating." He said and Drew nodded "Yes, really fast. That's actually not normal, you should probably get that checked out-"

"BARRY! Oh my god!" Iris yelled and ran towards us, accidentally bumping into a waitress causing her to spill her tray of coffee.

Barry looked around frantically and Drew furrowed her eyebrows. "Oh my god, Tracy I'm so sorry." Iris quickly apologized to the waitress and she brushed it off "It's ok I've got it."

Then Iris ran to Barry and hugged him "I can't believe you're awake Barry, why didn't star labs call us..."

Barry looked at Iris, his eyes were full of love, the three of them practically grew up together, he always looked at Iris like that, but she was totally oblivious to Barry being blindly in love with her. Drew felt a pang of jealousy, wait. What? She's not jealous, Then Iris hugged Barry again and got really exited "My dad is going to be so happy to see you, in going to go get my stuff, I'll be right back."

Drew sighed "I should probably get my stuff too."

Barry followed Drew to her table "Med school huh." He said looking at all of the books she had on her table.

Drew nodded "Yea, no kidding" she picked up a 3inch thick book "I've read at least 5 of these while you were in the coma. You know Iris and I visited you... a lot."

"Yea, Cisco mentioned that." Barry said smiling. Drew shook her head and laughed "of course he did." Then her phone beeped and she answered it "Hello?" She said, but the person who was calling hung up without saying anything.

Drew shrugged and picked up her bag, and Iris came back she motioned to the door "Shall we."

Barry, Iris and Drew walked into the police station and when Joe saw Barry he engulfed him in a hug "You scared the hell out of us kid." Joe said patting his back.

Then Joe put his hand on Barry's shoulder "You look okay, are you really?"

Barry nodded "Yea."

Then an officer walked up to us "Detective West, we have a 550 in progress at Gold City Bank, two dead, the storm is really picking up on the south side, get your rain gear."

Joe apologized "sorry Barry, I gotta run."

Barry looked hopeful "Do you need my help." Joe grabbed his coat "No, you take it easy, there will be plenty for you to do when you settle in."

Then Joe called over to Eddie "Lets go partner." Eddie walked over "Hey, Allen glad to see you."

Barry smiled "thanks Eddie."

Eddie smiled at Iris "Hey Iris" then he looked over to me "hey Drew" Drew gave him a small smile, She never really liked him.

Iris smiles back "Detective, you should go my dad doesn't like to be kept waiting. Eddie nodded and patted Barry on the back "I'm glad your back."

"Hey Iris, Drew can you come over here for a second." An officer called to them and they walked over

Drew kept her eyes on Barry, he looked at one of the criminals that they just brought in, he was reaching for the officers gun... but before she could say anything, Barry ran and pushed the guy back, but Barry ran so fast that Drew could barely see him, it was like non human.

Her jaw dropped then Barry looked nervous Iris walked over to Barry "Are you okay."

He nodded "yea, I-I'm fine I just need some air, I'll call you tonight alright." Then Barry quickly walked out of the station and Drew followed him.

She hid behind a car and watched Barry, he looked really scared then he lifted his arm up and it shook really fast. Then he shot forward into a building, and then ran into the car that Drew was hiding behind and broke the back window and when the car jerked forward it hit her in the forehead she muttered a string of curse words under her breath. She brought her hand up to her forehead and it felt sticky and warm.

When drew looked at her hand it was covered in her blood. Then she saw Barry back up and he sped away, so fast that he was gone after he blinked.

Drew just stood there and was wondering what the hell happened to her best friend.
