"I can help." He looked a little confused, before figuring out what I was talking about.
"So you have the proper medication? I don't have any money to pay you back with-" I stopped him mid sentence.
"I don't have the medication. I recently learned a new.... skill, that could save your wife's life. And you wouldn't have to pay me... I just need some information you might know." The man seemed confused, but I knew he was desperate.
"... fine." He started taking me into the back where his wife lay.
"What's this skill your talking about?" He helped his wife sit up. A went and kneeled on one side of the bed. I used the force to grab a wet rag, and put it on her forehead.
"I'm a Jedi. I recently acquired a scroll that described a way a force user could heal another person. The end seemed to be ripped off though, so I'm not sure if there are any repercussions, but if there are they would be ok me, not you or your wife. I'm willing to take the repercussion, seeing that this situation would give me practice." The man was shocked, pausing a moment to take in the information.
"Ok, I trust you. And I think I know what information your looking for... we'll discuss it after you've healed her." I nodded, and started to remove the bandage around her wound. She winced in pain, as I looked at the cut. It wasn't very big, but the infection was spreading rapidly. Her skin was discolored, and the skin around the cut looked ragged. I took a shaky breath, before closing my eyes and focusing on her energy. I slowly raised one of my hands, and opened my eyes. I could sense the force within her, as it resides in every living thing. It was faint, unlike the strong energy other force wielders generated, but it was there all the same. Slowly, I could see the discoloration start to leave, the wound becoming smaller and smaller till it was completely gone. The woman's breathing slowed, as she seemed to be relieved of the pain. I stood up on shaky legs, and looked at the stunned man that stood in front of me.
"She'll need rest, but she'll make a quick recovery." Faarn reached across the bed and took my hand.
"I- I don't know what to say... thank you. Thank you! This is amazing!" He walked around the bed and pulled me into a hug.
"So your not going to turn me into the First Order for some extra credits?" I said, pulling away from him.
"No, of course not. The world needs more people like you in it. Here, let's go back to the shop, I have something for you." He walked out, and I attempted to follow him. I felt light headed, and uneasy. When I finally made my way to the counter, he had pulled out a small chest and opened it. There where a couple of scrolls in it, but he pulled out a torn piece of paper.
"This is the last Jedi artifact I have. I figured you where here to ask about it... I used to carry lots of different artifacts, but my supply has dwindled over the years... here, I want you to have it. It has some very interesting information, that I don't quite understand." He handed me the parchment, and I started to unravel it. I stopped mid way, a burning sensation started to rise in my arm. I yelled out in pain, and turned to look at it. By my shoulder at the top of my arm, my skin started to turn red, and even started to crack and bubble. My arm felt like it was on fire, and I dropped to my knees in pain. It suddenly stopped. I gasped for air, my breath shaky. Faarn ran to the back room and cane back with a bowl of water. Suddenly I had remembered something.
"Faarn, please read the paper for me..."
"But your arm-"
"Just do it!" I yelled. I started to lightly pat my arm with the cold water, grimacing. Faarn grabbed the paper shakily.
"Every living thing has midichlorians, connecting us to the force. Every living thing is connected through them. This technique works by transferring the living energy from your midichlorians to theirs, speeding up the healing process, and deteriorating some of your body. Life is a balancing act- if something is given, then it must be taken from somewhere." Faarn rolled the parchment and looked at me.
"This is the-"
"Missing piece, yeah..." I mumbled, finishing him off. We stood up and I wrapped my arm.
"I'll be left with a nasty scar, but at least I saved a life." Faarn muttered a thank you under his breath, putting the rest of scrolls back in the chest and putting it away.
"Are you here just for the parchment, or was there something else you needed?"
"Well, I recently ran into a former buyer of yours. Her name is Violet Grey. She said she bought a Kyber Crystal from your store. I'm guessing you don't have any left, but I want to know where you got it." He nodded, pulled a map of the known galaxy off of a shelf.
"Before I married my wife and settled down, I used to travel the galaxy, visiting old sites and scavenging for rare and unique artifacts. I visited a planet by the name of Zoph once, and I came across an old mining site." He pointed at a spot on the map labeled Zoph. It lay in the outer rim territories. "The Jedi order would occasionally send young padawans there to harvest their own Kyber Crystals, but the CIS soon took it over. They then went on to harvest Kyber Crystals from Jedha. I would send you to Jedha for the crystals instead, but Jedha was destroyed years ago. The CIS took control of the mines, but never used them. They only wanted to prevent the Jedi Order from using them. After the Jedi Order fell, the CIS left the planet because they no longer had a use for it. It had been many generations sense the people where aloud to venture near the caves, so when the CIS left they where very curious and went to explore it. But the people that went in, never came out. No one knew why. I was young and dumb however, and thought it would be a good idea to go in and see what valuable things they found. I had been stuck in there for three days, wandering hopelessly and on the brink of death, when for the first time in what felt like forever, I saw a light. I kept walking, and came across a tunnel filled with these magnificent crystals. I had no idea what they where at the time, but when I miraculously made it out with the Crystals, I did my research and found out they where Kyber Crystals. I then realized why I made it out alive when others didn't. The force. It new I would go on to sell the Crystals to amazing people who where necessary for the continuation of the universe. I kept the Crystals a secret, and only sold them to people I knew would use them wisely." He rolled the map back up and put it on the shelf.
"There is something I must tell you about the Crystals on Zoph though..." the look on his face became darker, as he stared at me with a cold look. I nodded, telling him I was listening.
"The Kyber Crystals on that planet are like no other.... they have a raw power never before seen on any other planet. They where capable of cutting through durasteel with ease. They make difficult to tame lightsabers, that are more prone to fluctuations in the power core of the saber. They are dangerous, and could easily cost you your life if not handled properly. Only go searching for them if you know you can handle that responsibility, got it?" I shook my head yes, and his gaze lightened again.
"I wish I still had a crystal to give you... you defiantly deserve it. But I know, that if you went to Zoph and went into the cave, you would make it out alive. The force has a plan for everyone, and some how it led you here." He placed a hand on my shoulder.
"Your going to do great things. Now, I never did catch your name. Who do I get to proudly say saved my wife's life?" I smiled at his kind words.
"Kyla. Kyla Organa."
