Days had passed, still no dreams with Ashton. Luke purchased wire and made a necklace with the pink tourmaline, wearing it to feel any sort of connection to the mysterious man. It wasn't just a creation of his mind, it was so much more than that and the moment he begins to consider his sanity to be the reason Ashton is gone, will be the day he gives up.

His home was clean, and smelt of pineapple due to the candle he purchased. He watched the light of the flame which engulfed the wick flicker until it went out when he leaned over and blew air upon it. A car horn could be heard outside and caused him to jump before he sighed and grabbed his phone and slipped on some sneakers. Upon opening the door, he was greeted with the sight of Michael sitting in the driver's seat of Calum's Prius, Calum must be working at the cafe. Or he just didn't want to deal with their idiot friend, to them Luke's brain may as well as be mush and he is on more drugs than they can count. If only it was that simple.

"Hey Luke~," Michael smiled, exiting the car to open the passenger side door for the blond, who thanked him quietly. "Have you been sleeping?" Nirvana was playing quietly from the radio. Luke was almost unsatisfied with the fact that he was sleeping, and it was actually helping him with his sleep deprivation. He missed Ashton.

"Yeah I have," he mumbled in reply, watching as the sidewalks started to move, as the car did. "I have been better is this appointment necessary?"

Michael remained silent, he wasn't arguing with Luke today, he never liked them getting into disagreements. His lips pressed into a straight line and pressed on the gas. The sooner this was over with the better, for the tension was horrid. Reminding him of air on a humid day, thick and unbearable.

The sleep clinic was on a hill near the hospital, while the two had passed by it many times throughout their travels, they never truly acknowledged that it existed. Not like it was a very unique building anyway, white walls, it reminded him of a general hospital. Nonetheless, Michael drove his way up the hill and parked, feeling small drops of rain hit his pale skin, causing him to grab his compact midnight blue umbrella. "It's probably going to downpour any second so we may want to run," He suggested, before breaking out into a sprint and ending up past the glass double doors, Luke following right behind him, slightly delayed as he wasn't expecting to be told to sprint within that very moment.

The secretary at the front desk, a round woman with extremely pale skin covered in what appeared to be far too much makeup looked at the two with an expression of irritation. "Do you have an appointment?" She questioned, hoping the answer would be no so she could kick them out. And yet no such thing occurred, rather Michael agreed and checked Luke in.

Not even five minutes passed before a door creaked and opened, revealing a man wearing a white lab coat, and thick-rimmed black glasses. His hair was a chestnut brown, and he looked far too young to be someone already in this profession. "Luke Hemmings?" He said, his voice deeper than what Luke had expected, he rose from the uncomfortable waiting room chair when he heard his name. "Follow me."

Luke did not complain, merely glanced at Michael who gave him a cheerful thumbs-up, staying in the waiting room and hoping his friend's appointment wouldn't be six hours long. How would he know, it was a sleep clinic after all.

The walls of the hall were empty, boring, plain like a fresh sheet of paper. He hated how empty it all felt, glancing at the ceiling and imagining the swinging of the chandeliers from the red-walled hallway. He was guided to a room, as empty as the hallways. A bed was in the middle of the room, equivalent to a hospital bed. "I just need you to lay on this bed, take off your shoes before that of course. We are going to hook you up to several monitors, which will be monitoring your brain and the various types of waves a person has while going into sleep and sleeping. I was updated on your medical records and have learned about your sleep deprivation despite your sleep, while this could just be insomnia it seems very severe according to the doctor's notes, and the fact that you had to go to the emergency room for it." The man droned on and on, and Luke still didn't even know his name, would he ever? He was hooked up to various machines that weren't familiar to him at all aside from the heart monitor. He laid back, shutting his eyes and hearing the sounds of rain from a noise machine near the bed play so he could fall asleep with ease.

"You are in good hands," The man stated before opening a separate door and entering a room where he could monitor the various machines Luke had been put on.

He felt himself drifting to sleep, the world of his dreams engulfing him like a welcoming bear hug. And for a moment, he was happy. The red walls surrounding him, the door at the end of the hall. "Ashton," he whispered out in glee, his hand going up to clutch the crystal necklace he wore. "Walking closer and closer to the door, he reached for the knob and twisted it, and the door opening up to complete darkness. Screams being heard from the other side, he closed his eyes and reopened them. Rather than the hall, he stood in darkness. He could see nothing, had he gone blind? Crouching down he sobbed, holding onto the pink tourmaline, wanting to wake up, and yet he had no control. Was this Hell?

"He isn't waking up! His friend came with him did he not?! Fuck-, what am I supposed to do this has never happened?!" The man shouted at his colleague, who shook his head in terror. Did they witness death or the voluntary slipping of a coma?

"His heart rate keeps going down- fuck," his colleague muttered, seeing as the door opened and Michael stood in front of the two panicking sleep scientists, who were arguing over what to do. Luke looked pained laying in the bed, asleep clearly, his body covered in marks as he rested. Michael kept his shock to himself as he moved to the side of the bed.

"Wake up Luke," Michael stated, shaking his friend a bit, but to no avail. The blond remained asleep. Until the unpleasant sound of a prolonged beep came from the heart monitor, and the two doctors glanced at the heart rate flatlining in absolute horror.

"Wake up Luke!!" Michael yelled, this time his calmness gone, tears pooling in his eyes, "you were fine today!! Wake up, this isn't funny dude!"

As the three men freaked out, trying everything to revive the blond, a shadow watched, hidden by the darkness of the already dim room. "I suppose I was too late wasn't I?" He questioned but no one could hear him, nor feel him. "If you do not let go of the mortal within that bed, Hell will truly live up to its name."

The atmosphere changed when those words were spoken, as the heart monitor began giving a weak heartbeat, and Luke gasped, rising from the bed weakly and glancing at the three around him who were absolutely ecstatic that he woke up. Michael jumped on him, crying into his shirt, as he was completely clueless as to why they were rejoicing. What had happened while he was out?

Those red walls, that cold darkness...nothing made sense. Ashton was gone, he used Luke and then left leaving him with dwindling sanity and cryptic nightmares. Was he better alone than with the mysterious sex deviant he had been seeing every night, surely he was. But now he was beginning to rethink that...maybe he needed Ashton but clearly it was one-sided. "Michael.."

"Yes?" Michael sniffled.

"I need to see a woman, I think she can help me."
