Quick note: The first part of this chapter takes place during the previous chapter, just with someone else. Also, sorry for the short chapter! I wanted to update, but my dumb ass has been having writer's block lately!
Pearl's POV
I sighed. It was boring when Y/N and Marina weren't here. Y/N was over at Callie and Marie's place, and Marina was out, I didn't know where. She was probably hanging out with eight again, teaching him inkling social rules and stuff. He's a cute kid but living underground his whole life meant he wasn't the best socially.
I huffed, knowing neither of them would be back anytime soon. I grabbed my phone, turning it on and starting up a Chirpy Chips album. I could at least pass the time with music.
Marina's POV
I hummed to myself, typing ideas for songs on my laptop as I sat in the Reef. When it wasn't being used for ink battles, it was actually very pretty. I had originally come here to buy something for Marie, since her birthday was coming up, but I thought I'd stay a while after that, since it was such a nice day out. I hummed a bit of Tide Goes Out and made a note that I should remix it for Marie's birthday to go along with the headphones I bought her.
I noticed when we were getting slushies in the Reef that she was looking at a headset. It had green lights in rings on the cups and had little ears like Judd's, which doubled as speakers with lights on them as well. I smiled to myself, looking over at the bag next to me on the bench. Marie was gonna love these.
I looked at the time in the corner of my laptop screen. Pearl and I were on in an hour. I hummed a bit, pulling my headphones off and putting them around my neck. I put my laptop into my messenger bag and held the bag containing Marie's new headphones separately.
It was way warmer than when I had left this morning, which was nice, but I had put on a sweater, so I felt like I was cooking. I opened the door and put the bag down next to the shoe rack. I could wrap it later. I exchanged a few words with Y/N before eating the snack he made me. It wasn't long before he went to his room, probably to read some more.
"Hey, Pearl?" I asked, putting my bowl in the dishwasher.
Pearl looked up from her sandwich. "Yeah, 'Rina? What is it?"
I smiled at my best friend. "How was your nap?" I said teasingly.
She gave me a look signalling she didn't want to joke around right now. "It was fine, but I had a weird dream."
"Yeah?"
"Never mind, you probably would just find it weird."
"Pearlie, I ran away from a military society to pursue music after hearing a song with magic powers. I know weird."
Pearl sighed. "I dreamt that... That you and Y/N were dating, and, I don't know why, but I got crazy jealous about it..." She said softly.
I smiled shaking my head. "Sounds like you've got a crush on Y/N, or me."
Pearl raised a brow. "Come on, 'Rina. You're dating Marie. And anyways, I only see ya as a friend, but Y/N... I don't know."
I looked at Pearl in surprise. She'd only known Y/N for a few days and she's already crushing on him? Granted, he's cute. If I weren't gay I'd probably have a small crush on him, too, but she catches feelings way faster than I thought she would. "Well, think about it. I won't tell him."
"Promise?"
"I promise."
