he mourned when society drained his color
drinking or smoking to forget his loss
sorrowful being chased bliss temporarily
in exchange for promised liberation

another narcotic enticed his eyes: yellow
delightful, lighthearted coziness he desired
a wolf in lamb's skin, a mere duplicate
joyful contentment; the optimum prize

paint dripping on his pink tongue tasting
happiness golden blossoms of thick, overripe
marigold seeping inside his raw, sunburnt
lungs now too full to breathe in fresh air

once velvety peach lips displayed blisters
proud destruction of his disowned health
slowly apathetically for a rose fragranced
nightmare than pungently bitter reality

poisoning his tanned body not knowing
he was the only one that couldn't see
the brilliant yellow already within himself
