Sunshine blares through the large windows of the guest room I'm sleeping in. With a single toss and turn, I stretch and rub the sleep out of my blurry eyes. I sit up in my bed and just space out for a while. What. A. Night. With my hair, a mess, I finally stand up and lazily walk towards the bathroom with a shaky feeling in my legs. What's happening to me?
I brush my teeth, wash my face off, and put my glasses on, too lazy to make an effort to slip contacts in today. Then, I change into a simple outfit. Blue jeans, black Vans, a black cropped top, and a blue jean jacket. I slip on a black beanie after minutes of debating whether to fix my hair. Not after the night I had.
All the signs. They were all there. The house, the beautiful garden outside, the soft yellow colors everywhere, the sparkly blue bathroom, and... the girl stuff. That was all a sign. How could a man have all of those cute, lacey, pretty decorations? And a loveseat chair. That was a major give-in. I mean, was he going to pull it off like him and his dog sat together all the time?
Yes, he was. And he did. And I was dumb enough to believe it.
Heading back into my room, I race down the hall in hopes of escaping freely.
Halfway to the front door, I hear Jungkook's voice. "Morning," He says and I instantly slowly spin around on my heal. He's looking rather... different, in a blue and white striped set of pajamas, hair still ruffled from a night's sleep. He shifts his weight to the side and leans on the side of the counter. Hm, must be his favorite spot. "Yeoboseyo, can I... help you?" He speaks again. I snort. So now he wants to act all nicey-nicey? I grab the door handle, in hopes of escaping this conversation.
"Wait!" Jungkook grabs my arm before I can shake it off. "What? Why am I waiting?" I ask. He avoids my eyes, fidgeting with his fingers like a little kid. "I... I wanted to say that I'm sorry." He starts out slowly. "I know I should've told you that I have a girlfriend and that she lives with me. But we never really had a chance to talk."
"Never had the chance?" I question skeptically. "Or were you just being a complete jerk?" Jungkook holds out his hand, signaling for me to take it. I do, carefully, the warmth of his palm on mine. It's comforting, to say the least. I've never held a man's hand, except for my father's. I shed a simple tear thinking about him, but enough for Jungkook to notice. He looks up at me, and takes a finger, wiping the tear away.
I let go of his hand, even though I want nothing more than to hold it tightly. But he has a girlfriend, and that thought alone makes me sad. She's hurt, and I want him to myself. He's showing me a new side to him that I've never seen since the day we've met, even though that was barely 2 days ago.
"I appreciate it," I say, breaking the silence after a while. Maybe I should just give him a chance. We can be friends. I was jumping to conclusions, being jealous, and angry with him. After all, I could tell why he acted the way he did. I just... interfered with his life, his personal life with his girlfriend. And now I've hurt her, too.
"I'll be here for you whenever you want to talk, as a friend." He nods his head. "Even after you leave?" Jungkook asks me. I smile, "Even after I leave, we can stay friends. Just... be happy with her." I say, but Jungkook's smile falters.
I grab his hand and give it one last squeeze before standing up on the porch and walking down the block towards the convenience store. I turn around one last time to see Jungkook watching me from the doorway.
Turning back towards the shopping center, my eyes flood with tears.
What am I feeling? I shouldn't feel anything for him. We just met two days ago, should I be drawn to someone like that?
No, I shouldn't. He's my friend. He has a girlfriend. I need to respect her, and I need to respect him. I need to respect them and their relationship. I'm being ridiculous!
As I get closer to the shopping center from yesterday, I notice the same two girls who work at the thrift place. But this time, they're standing in front of a cute boba tea shop, Bubbles & Boba. It seems like a cute place to just sit and relax, so I enter the shop.
A soft green color greets me, the boba shop has green wallpaper, striped chairs, and the signs are green. Lots of couples are enjoying themselves, sharing drinks, and laughing over sweet treats. I walk over to two friendly workers, and after a long debate, I decided to try the matcha boba tea, which happens to be the special drink of the day.
I make myself comfortable near the back of the shop, a two-seat table, and chairs with green and white striped pillows. I begin to scroll through my phone for a while until someone behind me clears their throat.
I turn around in my chair, noticing a young man who appears older than me. He's charming, to say the least. Soft, silky, ebony hair and harsh grey eyes like the storms. He sends a wave of his hand my way, and I smile back. The man rises from his place in the cafe and walks my way, boba tea in hand.
"May I?" He asks politely, before taking the seat across from me. I nod my head in reply, to awed by the pure sultry aura taking over space around me, enveloping me with something I'd never felt before, but realized its existence.
I looked up at the man before me, such a feeling came across me. Maybe it was the aura around him, something different. Something alluring, tempting, provocative. But the man just stared back at me in what seemed to be innocence, no doubt studying me.
Then and there I felt a little self-conscious of my looks, feeling the need to touch my wavy light brown hair or my cute bangs, touch up my brown eyes, maybe something about my light skin wasn't right. "Sorry, for staring... you just... caught my eye," The man stutters. I couldn't tell if I was flattered or creeped out by that comment. Maybe a little bit of both. "Oh, uh... thank you? I guess." I smile politely at the man. "Well, I was wondering if I could get your number?" The man said reaching into his back pocket for his phone. I nodded, not to be rude.
Maybe I should start making a few new friends now that I'm in a totally new part of Korea. It's nice here, in Seoul, so I should spend my time wisely.
"Oh, and by the way, my name is Lee Baek Hyeon," The man said, as he typed his phone number into my phone. "Call me sometime." And with that, he scrambled out of his chair and simply left. What the heck? Well, maybe he has somewhere to be. Checking my phone, I realize that he had typed in his name as,
♥Baekhyeon♥
Oh boy, what am I getting myself into?
